I know I need to access my WP Admin to deactive the Events Calendar to begin to diagnose this problem. Any ideas on a workaround to get in here? This is the error I am receiving:
Fatal error: Class ‘Tribe_Template_Factory’ not found in /home/content/39/7488539/html/Franchise/Login/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/lib/tribe-pro-template-factory.class.php on line 8

    Hey Kelly,

Do you happen to have any plugins installed on your site called CiviCRM or and thing with “Cron” in the name or description? Just curious.

Now, as for the problem itself, the only way to get around this if you can’t even get into the Admin area is to download a .zip of Events Calendar PRO directly from your account here on theeventscalendar.com, un-zip the files, and install the files anew on your site’s /wp-content/plugins directory. This means that you should delete the existing files at /events-calendar-pro folder there, and install the new files directly.

This is easiest over FTP, and will not delete any existing Event Data you’ve saved thus far – though if you can make a backup of your site and database, you definitely should do that before doing any of the steps above.

Let us know if this is helpful.

    Thanks,
    George

I followed all the steps, but now my events are all gone! I spent hours entering them. Do I have to redo? If so, how do I know the same thing won’t happen again?

    Hey Kelly,

What was your answer to this question here:

Do you happen to have any plugins installed on your site called CiviCRM or and thing with β€œCron” in the name or description? Just curious.

    That could be relevant.

As for your events, to be clear, do you have all of them saved in the backup you made before doing this? And also, have you fully re-activated The Events Calendar after successfully installing it on your site?

I did check my plugins and don’t think I have any with that. Here’s a list:
    Advanced Custom Fields Pro
    Breadcrumb Trail
    Calls to Action
    Capability Manager
    Landing Pages
    Leads
    Per Post Scripts & Styles
    Peter’s login Redirect
    Regenerate Thumbnails.
Responsive WordPress Slider – Soliloquy Lite
    The Events Calendar
    User Role Editor
    WooCommerce
    WP Mailto Links
WP Maintenance Mode – till we get this resolved
At the moment, I do not see Events Calendar Pro on that list, however, I am working with our database guy and I know he did some updates last night. It is possible he deactivated the Pro version. It was on there. But even so, most of the events data should still show, and they are not.
According to the database guy, this seems to be what he has figured out:
“the good thing is that we dont appear to have lost any site or CMS data, from what I can tell, it’s
just labeled incorrectly in the database…I’ve updated all of our plugins and
narrowed down the present issue to that post_type”
Not sure exactly what that all means, but it does appear that all the database information is there, it has just been lumped all into post_type.
There is a third party involved, who was the original webdesign company. They were the ones who backed up right before we updated WordPress and this issue appeared. We are currently awaiting word on whether they really did back up like they said they did and if so, we still have our data. If not, I understand that it is a matter of re-shuffling the data into the proper categories.
So, right now we appear to be in a holding pattern awaiting backup files. Whichever way this shakes out, we still need to isolate the cause of the breakdown. The newest plugin in does happen to be Events Calendar, so we are assuming it has something to do with it.
Maybe you recognize a known conflict with one of the listed plugins? Otherwise, we will put this into a holding pattern until the backup arrives.

For the time being, the backup was restored, and after a bit of shuffling into correct categories, we seem to be up and running. We can close this ticket.

    Hey Kelly,

I’m very glad to hear your back-ups worked well here. Nice!

As for your original issues, I can indeed close this ticket, but it’s worth noting that deactivating Events Calendar or any of its add-ons should not outright delete any saved events, so there may be more going on with your site than just something with The Events Calendar itself.

Continue to keep good backups, and make them frequently! Best of luck with your site πŸ™‚

    Cheers,
    George
