I’m coming from Timely and I’m trying to edit my calendar to be somewhat similar for my readers. In the list, day and agenda views, is there a way for the event not display after the event is over? Doesn’t make sense when it says Upcoming Events when the event is over. How do I duplicate events? Is there an option to color code the categories? Lastly, sometimes events don’t have end times, is there a way not just have a start time?

    Thanks!

Hi – thanks for the great questions πŸ™‚

Please note for any future issues that it is generally preferable to post separate issues for each question in order to help us serve all our customers as quickly and fairly as possible and also to prevent confusion.

In the list, day and agenda views, is there a way for the event not display after the event is over?

The event should not continue to display after it has ended (in the context of list view). Day view however shows all events taking place that day (though you could implement a customization to hide those that have already passed) and this is by design – but please note within day view you should not ordinarily see Upcoming Events as the title, instead it ought to be something like Events for Monday, March 10th 2014.

Is it possible you are still on list view, here, rather than day view – and are your server and WordPress date/time settings correct?

Please do note that agenda view was created primarily as a prototype for building your own custom views and you’re welcome to use it – but further tweaks are really something you will need to implement yourself.

    How do I duplicate events?

If it is a recurring event you can use our recurrence functionality to set up future instances at predefined intervals – but there is no other means baked in to let you duplicate or clone an event. You might be able to leverage a different plugin for that, though, and we’d certainly welcome this as a feature request.

Is there an option to color code the categories?

Though not something officially supported by Modern Tribe, please do take a look at this plugin.

Lastly, sometimes events don’t have end times, is there a way not just have a start time?

There is no built-in means of doing this, but once again this would be a great candidate for a feature request and/or you could investigate working around this by for instance setting an additional field to flag events as having no end time then conditionally remove the end time in the single event display or anywhere else you need this behaviour. The following resources could be helpful if you want to explore something along those lines:

The date and time in wordpress are correct. I’m going through all the views (Day, List, and Agenda) and it is still displaying events that have passed as you can see here: http://www.frugalphillymom.com/events-calendar/upcoming/?tribe-bar-date=2014-03-10

Thanks, I think I’ll be adding a few feature request πŸ™‚

Thanks for sharing the link – it all looks like it’s behaving as expected to me.

…and it is still displaying events that have passed as you can see here: http://www.frugalphillymom.com/events-calendar/upcoming/?tribe-bar-date=2014-03-10

With a URL like this you are essentially requesting a list of all events beginning on 10 March 2014 – so yes, it will show events that completed earlier in the day (but started on that same date) under those conditions, apologies if that was not clear. The ‘default’ upcoming events list displays differently:

Note that events which started and completed earlier on today are not listed here.Β  Does that help, or at least clarify things?

Ok I understand now, however how do I make that my default view?

Thank you, I figured it out πŸ™‚

Closing this thread as it’s been quite a while – of course if we can help with anything else please do create a new thread. Thanks!
