Has anyone successfully applied user permissions at an Organizer level?

Hi all,

I’m working on a site where I want to effectively give each event Organizer in the system their own login, so they can add their own events.

From various blogposts I’ve found people seem to have had limited success using the Role Scoper plugin for this with TEC. Some people have referred to using Advanced Custom Fields or posts2posts – I also need to provide scope for a User to edit a Page that they’ve been set as the author of (or find some other mechanism for mapping a User to specific Page editing).

Has anyone had any luck with something like this? I’ll keep looking for blogposts & post any I find here, but if someone knows anything that I might find useful (or things to avoid), I’d appreciate the help.

It would be interesting to hear further comments for sure. Would adapting Community Events and bending that to your needs offer a way forward here?

You know what, it does sound fairly close – although I must confess I’m wary of spending another $50 without being sure whether this is the right avenue to proceed.

If there’s a publicly viewable list of events submitted by a “community”, then I could try to enforce a mapping of an organiser to a community and get around the Organizer page problem that way.

Any ideas then how to grant edit access to specific Pages to an Author or Contributor User in a way that’ll work with TEC?

Well, I’ve no doubt it’s possible but we don’t really have the support bandwidth that would let us spend time figuring this one out. We can certainly leave this open and see if other members of the community might be able to chip in with ideas/solutions.
