Group discount tickets

Hi there,

I’m looking for a way to offer ‘Group rates’ for people purchasing 10 or more tickets. So $25 / ticket general admission, or $20 / ticket for purchases of 10 tickets or more.

I was wondering if WooCommerce Bulk Discount plugin would work with this?

I’m imagining creating a new ticket, and using the above plugin to add the desired functionality. Will that work?!?

Or what else would you recommend?

Hey mike,

Thank you for choosing us for your calendar and ticketing needs! To answer your question, I’m not 100% certain if that plugin will work for what you’re looking to accomplish. Additionally, I haven’t seen any similar instances of users looking for similar functionality, so the only way to really know would be installing and activating the plugin and testing for yourself.

Please note that any issues you do run into will have to be handled by you as we don’t support theme/plugin conflicts. I hope this helps answer your question and best of luck with the project!

I probably won’t risk it as the plugin is quite expensive and at this stage, ticket discounts is the only functionality I’m looking for. Maybe you could add it to a wish list for future updates? I can’t be the only person who would like to offer reductions for groups.

In the meantime. If one of our staff were to deal with group bookings manually, what would be the best way to manually issue discounted tickets? Would you set up another hidden ticket category or something?

Hey Mike,

Our UserVoice Feature Ideas is a great place to submit your feature requests. We are always pulling ideas from there to incorporate as new features 🙂

I honestly don’t have any experience with discounting tickets as the plugins are still fairly new, so the best way to go about that is anyone’s guess. I imagine so long as you do a backup prior to testing the WooCommerce Bulk Discounts plugin, you should be able to test for compatibility and see if it offers the functionality you’re looking for.

I do wish I had more knowledge for you on the matter and wish you the best of luck with the discounting of bulk ticket purchases. If you figure it out, feel free to reply with your methods so others can benefit from your troubleshooting.

Our work-around (for anyone interested) was to add a note for those interested in group rates to get in touch with my colleague. We set up a coupon code in WooCommerce that would offer a ‘Product discount’ on the ticket to our ‘group rate’. The coupon code was limited by a minimum spend, just shy of the cost of 10 x regular ticket. (We defined groups as orders over 10 tickets). So if someone adds 10 or more tickets to their basket and puts in the coupon code, their cart will be updated with the discounted group price for checkout.
