Simon
MemberI have enabled Google Maps on my venue and events pages. However, it seems to show the wrong location (I am in the UK).
For example, this page show a church: http://ontheheath.com/venue/the-church-on-the-heath/The postcode for it is clearly shown as GU51 1HA. the map shown on that page is a different location to what Google Maps returns: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=gu51+1ha
Why is this?

ParticipantHi Simon,
That is strange, especially since the location our plugin shows is so close to the one Google shows on their site. I’ve created a ticket for this for a developer to take a look at since it’s beyond me. Stay tuned.
Thanks,

ParticipantSimon, after some rigorous testing to ensure we were providing everything as required in the API for Google Maps I did find this note in their (Google’s Map API) FAQ https://developers.google.com/maps/faq#geocoder_differences. I copied the note for the sake of if the link changes:
Why do the Google Maps APIs Geocoders provide different locations than Google Maps?
The API geocoder and Google Maps geocoder sometimes use different data sets (depending on the country). The API geocoder occasionally gets updated with new data, so you can expect to see results changing or improving over time. So, I think you have uncovered one of those differences. It is strange that it’s close but not exact between the two samples, yet it is an issue with their display.

MemberHi Simon – does Tim’s answer clarify things and do you need any additional support on this one?

Memberhi,
It does clarify things, yes. Very annoying though, but I guess you can’t help with this one!
