    Hi Guys

I have a coming soon plugin running so you will need to add “eocpreview” after the main URL to view the website. so http://www.danstevens.me.uk/ecopreview
I’m having an issue getting the Google maps to show. If I run the default WordPress theme the maps do show so obviously an issue with Avada theme.

Do you have any ideas to get the Maps to show in Avada?

    Help much appreciated

    cheers

    Dan

    Hi Dan!

Thanks for getting in touch – I’m sorry to hear you are hitting difficulties.

One possibility is that Avada is also trying to use the Google Maps API … however I can’t check this out as the URL with /ecopreview at the end still doesn’t get me past the coming soon page.

Could you either confirm the correct way to view the site or touch base with the team behind Avada and check if that theory might be valid?

    Thanks!

I’m having the same trouble. I checked with the theme’s author and they came that there isn’t any API call that would effect this. How do we check to see about this potential conflict? Any help would be great!

Can anyone help please!? Clearly there a a lot of users with the same problem. Seen as Avada is the biggest selling WordPress theme and Events Calendar the biggest events plugin can you guys not talk to each other to resolve the issue!? Clearly it will be a very popular Theme / Plugin combination.

    thanks

Exactly! I’m working with the new X-Theme (http://theme.co/x/).
The theme’s authors claim there isn’t anything they can do here because it is with your plug-in. Having a clear tutorial to help us diagnose this API conflict would be a great start – I’m still not sure it is an API conflict or something else. I even reset the Theme to Twenty-Fourteen hoping that the maps would display and it still doesn’t. So, knowing what we need to do would be great.

Apologies first of all for the delay in response as these new replies were unfortunately not flagged up on our side.

It’s going to be easiest for a number of reasons to stop your theme from enqueueing the Google Map libraries. So, the advice in my second reply is what I would continue to recommend here (for those of you using Avada). Once again, if they can provide a snippet to help with this we can probably further refine it if needed so it only impacts on event-related pages and so are more than happy to meet you and the authors of that theme half-way 🙂

Shoutmatt I think it’s going to be best if you create a new thread of your own:

Having a clear tutorial to help us diagnose this API conflict would be a great start – I’m still not sure it is an API conflict or something else … So, knowing what we need to do would be great.

When you create a new thread of your own you should be presented with some questions that effectively guide you through this: the essence of it though is that you should ensure your event plugins are up-to-date, deactivate all other plugins and switch to a default, unmodified theme – then check to see if the problem has gone.

Assuming it has, reactivate everything one-at-a-time and test at each stage to see if it has returned, taking note of whatever might be triggering the problem.

Exactly! I’m working with the new X-Theme (http://theme.co/x/) … I even reset the Theme to Twenty-Fourteen hoping that the maps would display and it still doesn’t.

So this suggests it may not be a problem with your theme – perhaps it is another plugin that is conflicting. Whatever the case, it’s going to be best if you could break your own problem out in to a new thread (and we generally do recommend that course of action rather than jumping into a thread created by another user, regardless of how similar the issue may seem as the steps to resolve it are often different).

    Thanks!

    Hi Barry

Can you please to me how exactly to stop my theme – Avada – from enqueueing the Google Map libraries? You refer to the solution in “my second reply” which I can’t see. Either it doesn’t exist or it’s marked as private.

    Thanks for your help

I do apologize Dan, that should have been visible to you – let me re-post:

OK, so one or other needs to stop enqueuing their copy of the scripts used to interact with Google Maps. Not knowing which version etc is in use by Avada I highly recommend that – at least within the context of event-related pages – you dequeue the libraries set up by Avada.

With that in mind, can you reach out to the theme author and ask for some code to prevent the Google Maps API scripts from being enqueued? Once you are armed with that we can probably complete the puzzle by giving you some code to detect if you are on an event-related page.

    Would that work?

So, basically, I can’t give you a snippet to stop Avada from enqueing Google Maps (I don’t have their code in front of me). It seems like a reasonable request you could make of their own support team/author, though, as it’s a fairly simple procedure.

    Hello there

So this issue seems to run and run. Here is the rather unhelpful reply from Theme Fusion (Avada author) after I sent them your latest reply:

“Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that the theme will work with every plugin or combination of plugins. There are just too many to check In this case you may find the solution in searching for a different google maps plugin and see if that works for you.”

I’m now stating to get a bit frustrated! What do you need from me to resolve the issue asap? Do you need a file from the Theme?

    cheers

Right – ok. I’ve found the solution. Stupidly easy.

All you have to do is go into “Extras” in Avada Theme Options and tick the box that says:

    “Disable Google Map Scripts”

Hope this helps someone out there!

    thanks
