    Hi
I’ve noticed that Google is showing my event dates as a day out on some of my search results. How do I stop this happening. I use Yoast SEO and have the date snippet turned off for events but this too shows on some, and incorrectly. I’m not sure why this is happening?

    Hi Linda,

Thank you for posting and welcome back 🙂

I took a quick look at some of the Google search results and the screenshots provided and noticed the discrepancy you mentioned. What do you have for your End Date & Time setting for each events showing incorrect dates? Send over screenshots if possible and we’ll go from there. If you don’t mind, can you send over your System Information as a private reply?

Thanks again and have a good rest of the day.

I’ve had a thought and not sure if it could be a reason why this discrepancy has occured but thought I’d share it with you to see what you think….?
These events in question were on my calendar last year, all took place around similar dates to this year. When it came to submitting them to this years events I simply changed the dates on the start and end dates to the 2016 dates, rather that re-do a whole new event. This year was obviously a leap year and I’m just wondering if that could have had something to do with it? Of course I could be totally off the mark but thought I’d mention it!

    Hi Linda,

That could most definitely be a reason why the dates are displaying incorrectly in the search results. To update the information, I’d recommend installing Yoast SEO. You can set the SEO title and description on the event page, then once your site gets crawled again it should show the updated information.

Give that a shot and let me know if you’re able to get the correct information displaying. Thank you for the update and have a good rest of the day.

    Hi
I already use Yoast and those settings?

    Hey Linda,

It is probably best you create a new event with the correct dates, though theoretically if you change the Yoast SEO title and description, the changes should show in search results the next time your site is crawled.

I hope this helps and have a good weekend!

    Hi
Thanks for getting back to me. I have quite alot of events that repeat every year so it would be nice to know i can just change the dates on these rather than have to redo them each time. I’ll have a play with the dates and seo to see if that helps
    Many thanks
    Linda

    Hey Linda,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Another idea would be to set the events as recurring and have them repeat yearly. This KB article gives instructions on how to create recurring events.

Glad to hear you’re on the right track and enjoy the remainder of your Monday 🙂
