ParticipantI’m just days from launching my news website and there’s a major glitch in the Community Calendar.
When it comes to a reader/user loading his or her own event, the description portion of the Submit an Event page defaults to HTML text. I assume many confused readers will then click on the Visual button in an attempt to describe their event in a non-HTML format. However, when that happens the text box disappears completely and it becomes impossible to describe the event whatsoever. And since the Event Description is a required field, it then becomes impossible to load the event. This is a big deal for me because I need this calendar to take off if my website is going to become the go-to source for news and community activities in this area.
I’ve got my livelihood riding on this so please, please respond. Thanks!
PS. As I write this I’m noticing this actual text box in the Create New Topic section is HTML too!
Is that just how you guys do things?

MemberHi,
Sorry for the issues here. I can help out.
I attempted to recreate the issue on my test site and the Visual Editor worked for me and I was able to switch back between the two without issues.
Can you share a link so I can see the issue happening on your site as a private reply?
Let me know and we can go from here.
Thanks

ParticipantThanks, Brian! I’d have to share the link with you tomorrow, when the site is finally live.
Is that OK? I can’t take it off maintenance mode.

ParticipantGreat. So here is a link to our page where people can upload their own events. If you tool around in there, a bit and begin to try to load up an event, you’ll see the issues.
If the first one or two times work, try a couple more. Thanks!
Click on the ADD YOUR OWN EVENT link at the top of the calendar:

Or, go straight here:

MemberHi,
Thanks for the link.
I just took a look and see this javascript error in the console:
ReferenceError: sf_plugin_url is not defined
http://www.greaterpatchogue.com/wp-content/plugins/spider-facebook/elements/editor_plugin.js?wp-mce-4109-20150505
Line 19Please fix that error in the Spider Facebook Plugin and let us know and we can take another look.
As long as there is a javascript error there will be issues with the Visual Editor on the Front End.
Thanks

ParticipantI’m quite sure I’m not even using that plugin, Spider Facebook. Do you think deleting the plugin would solve the issue?
This would be good because I wouldn’t know (yet) how to fix that error.
Thanks!

MemberHi,
If you deactivate that plugin it should stop the error.
Thanks

ParticipantLooks like it works just fine now. Could you check for me as well.
One last item, if you look at one of the events, the Facebook comments box is appearing right between the post about the event and the details of the event below the post.
No doubt this is because Facebook commenting plugin is recognizing the post as just that, a post. But I’m afraid people won’t know to scroll below the comments to get the details.
Any quick fix you could think of? Thanks, Brian.

MemberHi,
The Visual Editor and Text Editor Switching is working for me now.
I visited a single event and see what you mean about the Facebook Comments.
Comments
I think the comments in your theme are coming after the content field (visual editor) and so it places them there. The only way to resolve this would be to remove the action in your theme on the single events that places the comment box there and then add a new action to place it under the Event Details.
I am not sure what that action would be in your theme, can you contact the theme developer if they have something setup to move the comments?
If they provide that coding I can help target it just on single Events Pages.
Let me know.
Thanks
