GigPress and The Events Calendar

What is the best way to import existing events within Gigpress to The Events Calendar? I am working on trying to integrate both of the plugins and would ultimately like to use PRO but, I’ve been unsuccessful in getting Gigpress events to import into The Events Calendar.

I exported the gigpress events via CSV. I then proceeded to import them into The Events Calendar selecting each field that I thought I needed to get all of the pertinent information to successfully import the events. The only thing that shows up is the date and a couple of other fields. The venue name, address, website, etc. are missing.

I did try to do a separate import of just the venues and then the events themselves but that didn’t seem to work. Is there a sequence of steps to get events imported successfully? I have a test wordpress site I am working on locally, unfortunately, I am unable to share it out for you to see.

Thanks for getting in touch with us! I can help you here 🙂

First of all I’d love to know if you have the GigPress events in the same site in which you are willing to install The Events Calendar or if you are trying to move those to a new site.

On the CSV import, sounds like the way to go. You’ll need to import Venues and Organizers before you import Events. That should successfully relate Events with just imported Venues and Organizers.

Yes, gigpress and The Events Calendar are within the same site. I think I may have imported the events out of the proper sequence. I initially imported the CSV thinking all will be good, but I did not realize there was a separate import for the venue information.

Do you recommend for me to delete the events that I attempted to import the first time and re-import the venues (first) and then the events (seconds)?

Totally yes! Venues (and Organizers) need to be imported first, then Events. This allows venues to be correctly assigned.
