Opening the Community Events submission form up to anonymous visitors definitely leaves things open for spammers to get in there. The good news is that Community Events includes an option to active a spam blocker called reCAPTCHA, which you can enable in the calendar settings, under Events > Settings > Community (screenshot).
Please complete those fields and, once you do, those submitting events will need to enter a code to confirm they are not spammers before the submission.
That will definitely help cut down on the clutter!
