I work with a school in Anaheim, California. We are rebuilding the website on WordPress and need a good, flexible calendar plugin. I have a few pre-sales questions about whether the calendar can do certain things:

    1. Can individual calendar events have multiple tags/categories? For example, the school has several campuses (different locations). There might be an event that spans all campuses, just two of the three campuses, etc. Each campus will have its own calendar section. So we would need an event that spans multiple locations to show up on each calendar. Is that possible?

    2. Can The Events Calendar be used to display sports schedules along with win/loss results? This is what we have on the current website: http://www.fairmontschools.com/anaheim-hills-campus-current.html#sports. Ideally, we would like each sporting event to be classified to the appropriate sport and then displayed in a table view of some kind with the ability to add a win or loss to the end.

    3. Can the style of calendar events be customized multiple times, depending on where it’s used? For example, on the home page, events are displayed with a specific style (http://www.fairmontschools.com/#home_events_wrapper) but the same events are styled differently on this page: http://www.fairmontschools.com/event-list.html (same content but styled differently).

    4. Can the calendar be configured so visitors can filter the results? For example, if I’m a parent at the Anaheim Hills Campus, I might want to filter the Anaheim Hills Campus calendar to only see girls’ volleyball events. Or I might want to see only upcoming admissions events and football events. How granular can the filter be and how does it filter events (based on tags, categories, etc.)?

Thanks for your help. alternatives that might work. Thanks!

    Hi there Russ,

Thanks for your interest in our products, I’ll help you out to decide if our solution is the best for your site!

#1 – Tags and categories: Yes, ‘Events Post Type’ support regular WordPress tags and also comes with a custom categories ‘Event Categories’. An event can have multiple categories and tags. SO I guess it’s possible to achieve what you are asking here.

#2 – Per default that’s not possible. But you can define ‘Additional Fields’ in Events Calendar PRO to fill in the results. That ifnormation will show up in the ‘Single Event’ page, but you might want to adapt the event listing to show that info there as well.

#3 – Yeap that is possible. You might want to check out our Themer’s guide, basically you can customize every view of the calendar, and the widgets as well.

#4 – The Filter Bar add-on adds some deep filtering capabilities to the calendar. You might want to check out the video at the product page and also check our demo site to see it live: http://wpshindig.com/.

As a final comment please bear in mind we have a 30 day refund policy, so you can go ahead and purchase the products to try them out. If after trying them on a test site you decide they don’t fully cover your needs you can ask for a full refund ๐Ÿ™‚

Please let me know if you have any other follow-up question and I’ll be glad to answer,
    Best,
    Nico
