Hi Tri.be,
I got a custom template built for my WP theme just for The Event Calendar – but when I select the template (full page width with no sidebars) in the Event Calendar settings – it doesn’t show up properly (http://yogazine.theglobalyogi.com/events/) and the sidebars are still there. I know the template itself is OK as it works when I select it for a page (http://yogazine.theglobalyogi.com/full-width-test-page).
Do you know what’s happening here?
Thanks,

I would need to see the code for your full width template in order to troubleshoot. Can you please post to http://snippi.com/ and share here?
Thanks,

OK thanks – I pasted the fullwidth template plus associated style div in http://snippi.com/s/kqavj6x

That’s strange, this should work. Are you sure you have the “Full Width” template selected? Would you mind providing me wp-admin access so I can go in and confirm? You can post those details here privately.
Thanks,

This is strange. I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be applying the full width template. I wonder if it’s a conflict with another plugin? Have you tried deactivating all other plugins? Would you mind sending us the theme so I can dig in a little deeper? No guarantees that I’ll be able to figure it out but at least I can troubleshoot a little more. You can email it to: pro [at] tri [dot] be, attn. to me and reference this thread.
Thanks,

Thanks for sending us the template. I now see the problem. You’ve got conditional code that throws in sidebars and other markup in your theme’s header.php and footer.php files. You’ll need to go through and revise the conditional code to include conditions for the various event related pages. This gist should be able to help you: https://gist.github.com/jo-snips/2415009
I hope that helps but let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks for investigating and for your help. I would need some further details though about how I would revise the conditional code for various event related pages… Does this mean I will have to go through and change some code in every Event Calendar template page? Or do I need to make these changes in the header / footer? My knowledge of PHP is basic and just need some further details as to what these changes would be exactly. You said there’s conditional code in those files that throws in sidebars – but it doesn’t do this if I create a new page from my fullwidth template – it only does it for the Event Calendar.
Thanks again for your help.

You would need to change the code in your theme’s header.php and footer.php files. Unfortunately we cannot help you with this level of customization. You’ll need to work on it yourself or hire someone to help you.
