GuestJust wondering on timeline for full calendar shortcode so the calendar can be inserted on any page? I have been watching for this feature for 2-3 years 🙂 I saw a post from Geoff B. in your forum that you are working on it?

ParticipantHowdy Kevin,
I appreciate your sticking with us for so long! Indeed we have worked on that off an on for years now. We are embarrassed that it has started and stopped twice due to our availability, but we have started again and are in the home stretch. Both monday and today we spent researching shortcode use cases . Soon after completing this dev work will begin again.
Our internal goal is to release that with version 4.3 of our plugin. I don’t often share internal goals like that, because sometimes they have to change if a major bug crops up or something. But, now you know what I know.
Does that answer your question?
Cheers!

ParticipantI hate pushing into others posts but what kind of an timeframe would be realistic before we can see this feature in (For that matter is there an development branch we can use?)
Thank you 🙂

ParticipantAny answer I could give you would be a personal guess, Kent. Even I do not place much stock in my guesses in this case.
You see, we are switching to a new release schedule right now. You may have noticed that roughly a year ago we began releasing new features much much quicker than years precivious. That was a purposeful thoroughly planned endeavor, and we were able to address an enormous chunk of our most popular requests. Now we are working on releasing bug fixes much quicker by doing a “maintenance release” every ~couple weeks. Ultimately this change will speed up both bugfix and feature releases, by making sure that new features are not delayed by a bugfix and that bugfixes are not delayed by a feature taking longer to build than expected. But given that 4.0.6 was our first release under this new schedule, we do not have enough experience with it yet to give accurate predictions.
If I was to speculate I would say we will see shortcodes within 6 months. Take that for what it is.
Edit: No dev branch yet. As I said we are respeccing this as of Monday. But, if you’re interested in beta testing it once its ready please checkout: The Events Calendar Beta Signup Form.
