Format issue

I intend to buy the Pro version and ticketing add-on, downloaded free version to test.. have spent a couple of hours setting up and just can’t figure the most basic item.. the display on events page. I want to customize the look and prefer to drop the event list shortcode onto a page I designed. I did this and it is not working. The page is above but it is not recognizing my header image, menu etc. It is showing up on standard post page.

I want to love this event manager but too complicated to style..
