I’ve got a single site that is having problems with the Event Calendar. It’s a theme I built using Underscores, and it’s identical to some other sites I’ve setup (they’re using the same theme and WP version). Events works fine on all of them, so I’m at a loss. I even removed this theme and copied in a theme from another site, and it still doesn’t work, but it does on the other site. Disabled plugins, etc.

The problem is that the previous and next buttons don’t work, and the Find feature doesn’t work either.

So… not sure what else to try. I was just using the basic Events plugin, so purchased support to try and get this fixed. I’ve included the site URL below.

I did switch to 2015 and it works on that one too. Which is why I thought it was only theme related, but then refreshing the theme still tanks. Also, I can provide you with the URL of another site using the same theme that has the calendar working if that helps anything.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

    Howdy Kyler,

Welcome to our support forums and thanks for reaching out to us. Hopefully I can help you figuring out what’s happening here!

I’ve looked into your site, and when I try to use the ‘Prev/Next’ buttons I see there’s a JS error in the console related to The Events Calendar script. So we are facing a script conflict here. To debug this Let try the following:

A – Try to switch the theme to 2015, and leave all plugins active.
B – With your theme active, disable all plugins but our’s.

If pagination works in Test A, the script conflict is generated by the theme. Is it including a copy of jQuery? Our plugin uses the jQuery version included by WordPress and sometimes theme’s include their own copy of jQuery and this might cause some conflicts.

If it works in Test B, then next step will be to narrow this down to the specific plugin generating the conflict: re-activate the plugins one by one and test the pagination after re-activating each one. That way we can understand which plugin is in fact generating the conflict.

Please try this out and let me know,
    Best,
    Nico

    Thanks for the notes.

With 2015 turned on, it works. It’s not a plugin.

But here’s the weird thing: this site is a set of sites all using the same theme. None of the others have the problem.

It’s a custom theme I designed based on Automatic’s Underscores. I haven’t done anything weird. I’m not calling in stuff outside of what Automatic is calling in. If I go to a site that is working, and take their theme and replace this one completely, it still has the problem. So I’m really scratching my head as to what the difference is.

    Hi there Kyler,

Thanks for confirming it’s a theme conflict. Not quite sure what might be happening

One thing I noticed is that you are using a cache plugin, sometimes script ‘minification’ result in unexpected issues, Have you tried to disable it? I also see that ‘Zoho’ plugin that is including an additional version of jQuery, that can be another thing to double-check on.

I guess the process to debug this would be to have just The Events Calendar and the theme activated, without any other plugins and see what JS scripts are being included. You can also set up a local site, install a fresh copy of WordPress, our plugins and the theme again.

Please let me know if any of this tips help you out,
    Best,
    Nico

Got to the bottom of it – some code for a ZOHO form was pulling crap in. Zoho is worthless. I’ll try and get this person to move to MailChimp.

    Thanks!!!
