Is it possible to show lists of events by category in the events calendar pro. My director would like to be able to filter, let\’s say by showing him holidays for the whole school year or Final exam dates, etc.

We have a few ways to achieve this. First, using just The Events Calendar and entering categories for events, you can create a link to the categories.
On our demo site WP Shindig Demo Site https://wpshindig.com/events/ you can see example events. If you go to a single event and click on the category link: https://wpshindig.com/event/seattle-beercode/2018-03-28/
it goes to: https://wpshindig.com/events/category/tech-meetups/ in whatever your default view is set to.
You can use those types of links in any navigation menu items or buttons you create on your site.
If you’d like to give the user more control themselves over what types of categories they want to display, check out Filter Bar https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-events-filterbar. You can see it in action as the 2nd row on WP Shindig Demo Site https://wpshindig.com/events/. It has a categories sorting option.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
Thanks

Thank you for your prompt response.
For both suggested solutions, will it show a category list for one whole year?I checked test the link option https://wpshindig.com/events/category/tech-meetups/list/ and it shows only March 2018.
Regards.

Our demo site only imports events up to those dates. If you have more scheduled well beyond a month, it would display that information for you.
Thanks
