Filter Bar & Custom Taxonomy Pre-sell

Hello,

I took some time to try to read the many questions seemingly asked about this, and I understand your policy on assisting with customization. Our project will require the filter bar and love the demo of it in action. However; we need the ability to filter on a custom taxonomy “Venue Type” in addition to Categories and Tags.

Is this possible to implement with the filter bar? We know how to add the custom taxonomy to the event post type but are wondering the the filter bar is extendable.

Thanks for considering our plugins 🙂

Yes, Filter Bar is extensible and you can define completely new filters for it if you like. I’d add a caveat, though, that even for active license holders we cannot offer a large amount of support for custom development tasks (such as defining new filters).

That to say, what you want is absolutely possible – but would require some custom dev know-how.

Thanks for the quick response. From my research I see this is often sought customization.
It might a worthy tutorial. Add custom taxonomies to the filter bar.

Do you know of any other posts that address the coding of this?

In general we don’t go too far into custom coding tasks on the forums, but there are topics like this one that you may find interesting.

At this point it’s roughly a year old (there will naturally have been some changes in the codebase since then) and of course doesn’t present the complete answer, but it could still get you started on the right foot.
