The image imported from facebook events is the thumbnail and not the full image, thus resulting in a stretched, low quality image on display making our calendar look very, unsightly to say the least.
Can someone please provide a solution for this

Oh dear, that’s not good. I suspect that Facebook has changed something in their API that might be the cause of this. Let me look into it and I’ll get back to you.

We did address an issue with Facebook image sizes in a recent release. When I try to import one of your Facebook events (https://www.facebook.com/events/674641915890001/) it does seem to be coming in at a larger size for me.

Yes, Facebook Importer is up to date (version 3.3) so are Events Calendar Pro and Community Events.Might it mean that these events were imported much much earlier?
January 17, 2014 at 7:26 pm #94262Julie KuehlParticipantIf you think it’s possible that they were imported before the 3.3 release, that could be the problem. Could you delete the events and re-import them? Does that make any difference?

Thanks so much for those links. When I look at your site it appears to be working as expected at the moment. However, as expected means that it brings in only a square crop and not the full image as seen on the Facebook page. I get the same result on my test site.
I’m sorry if we didn’t communicate this behavior clearly enough. Do you have a suggestion on how we can improve our text or documentation to remove the confusion?
Part of the equation here is that we request a certain size from Facebook, but what gets returned hasn’t always been consistent. We may have to look for a different approach to importing Facebook images, but that will be a longer-term programming fix.
Does that make sense?

I feel as though I’ve seen other posts with this same issue and they found a work around. I know I’m certainly not the only one experiencing this issue, can you please help me identify a temp fix that’s been provided by one of your developers (maybe referencing git hub or the sort) or even another user?
Thanks,
FrederickFebruary 4, 2014 at 8:12 pm #100879fredParticipantFor instance will either of these work? https://gist.github.com/codearachnid/5371606 or
https://gist.github.com/codearachnid/3974181Can a developer confirm if either of these snippets will in fact enable our calendar to import the full event image, and not just a cropped version of it.
February 5, 2014 at 4:29 pm #101200Julie KuehlParticipantHi Frederick,
Those snippets were written several versions ago and actually are a reminder of how frequently Facebook changes the rules. You can try them if you’d like, but both involve changing core plugin code and we don’t recommend that. You’d be doing it at your own risk.
That said, we are going to be looking at this once again and seeing how we can revise the code for a future release. I know that’s not the answer you’re looking for, but it will take time to find a better, more permanent solution.
