Featured Events on Home Page

Your plugin looks really useful and am keen to buy the PRO version, however, I am ideally wanting to have two specific features on my home page and want to see if this is possible?

Firstly, I would like a grid displayed of Featured/Upcoming Events (with some basic overlay of information). Ideally I could have control of what appeared here (i.e. events we want to promote a bit more). This wouldn’t necessarily be my actual What’s On page as the Home Page would also have a news feed/video etc. I am fairly proficient with HTML/CSS so can build the grid itself but not sure if it will be compatible with this plugin (or what I’d have to to to make it so!)

Secondly, I would like a filter bar on the Home Page where people can enter their dates/location etc. and then it takes them straight to a filtered view (a bit like airbnb.co.uk) – rather than having to go to the What’s On page and then performing the search.

I can’t quite see how I can do these two things with the features the plugin offers ‘out of the box’ but may well be missing the obvious!
Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated…

Hi Jane – great questions!

Just about anything is possible especially if you’re happy to do a little customization work and it does indeed sound like you’ve got some of the skills that would be needed for this 🙂

Additionally, there are numerous plugins out there – albeit unofficial – such as Event Rocket that can help you to put the main events page on the front page of your blog.

All that to say, both of the things you wish to implement are absolutely achievable and there are a wealth of support resources and bits of existing code out there to get you on the right track.

Thanks Barry – that is reassuring, and Event Rocket looks like a good place to start. Just wanted to make sure this would be possible before spending my clients cash!
