ParticipantAnyone successfully using TEC Pro with either of these formats?
The biggest challenge I find is that its hard to register TEC event types with any plugins.June 14, 2017 at 1:40 pm #1298105Barry
MemberHi @dswiese,
I don’t have any direct experience to share with you here though we can certainly leave this open and see if other members of the community can chime in with any advice of their own.
We are thinking about creating an extension that will provide a level of AMP support and I’ve noted your interest in that (unfortunately I can’t guarantee when or if this will be available, however).
The biggest challenge I find is that its hard to register TEC event types with any plugins.
Interesting to hear that: events are regular custom post types and there isn’t anything particularly unusual about them in that regard, so assuming the plugins you’ve tried support custom post types generally I’m not sure why that would be.
At any rate, do let me know if you have further questions on this that I might be able to answer and we can otherwise leave this open for feedback from the community 🙂

ParticipantThanks for the comments and support. Yeah, it may be that it is registered, but its not showing up in the rss feed the plugin I am using creates to import into FB IA publisher.
The interesting thing, is that the plugin admin panel DOES display all the TEC post types and says its activated, but nothing more.I also had a similar experience with https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/automatic-event-post-tagging/ where the plugin wouldn’t register tribe_event as a post type.

MemberInteresting – so what’s the specific plugin you are using here, for the RSS feed I mean (interested to take a peek and see if there is anything obvious we’re doing on our side that would cause difficulties)?

ParticipantI am using https://wordpress.org/plugins/pagefrog/
And you can see the screenshot that it recognizes, but then it generates this rss feed for my FB page, that doesnt seem to include all those types. Yes, even when a post/event is updated.https://portlandfoodevents.com/?feed=pagefrog_instant_articles
I am aware there is a number mismatch for the event count, but not sure that it matters as even newly imported/updated events dont show up.

MemberGotcha.
Well I’m not completely sure when and where Pagefrog pulls in and utilizes custom post types, but in the case of the ?feed=pagefrog_instant_articles feed you referenced only blog posts appear to be utilized.
Best I can tell by looking at the query in the templates/pagefrog-feed.php file, it isn’t designed to pull in anything else (it uses the QP_Query defaults for post types – that to say, blog posts only) and isn’t written to do anything other than that.
I’m unsure if that’s a bug, an oversight or deliberate – but if you want to see custom post types being rendered in that feed it would probably be best to take this up with the Pagefrog team, I’m afraid.
Good luck!

ParticipantThat PageFrog plugin seems to be abandoned as the webpage doesnt load and the support has disappeared.
HOWEVER!
I landed on https://wordpress.org/plugins/lh-instant-articles/
that does seem to work with the TEC custom post types.I ended up using domain.com/?feed=lh-instant-articles
as the RSS feed in the FB config, and so far updated events are appearing in my Production Articles library.June 16, 2017 at 10:26 am #1299267Barry
MemberThanks for the note – could be useful for others, too 🙂
