    Hi,

I just found your little ‘helper plugin’ as we don’t have any events until October.

We’re using the Genesis theme alongside the Beaver Builder Plugin. We can drag and drop the Events Calendar widget anywhere we like on any page but is doesn’t ‘fast forward’ to the next upcoming event (in October).

It works as expected if I add it to a sidebar via ‘Appearance’ > ‘Widgets’.

Would there be a way to enable this ‘fast forward’ feature while adding the widgetto via the Beaver Builder?

    Many thanks,
    Florian

    Hey Florian,

Thanks for reaching out. If the widget does not work as expected in the specific Beaver Builder modules, but does in the default, WordPress-provided widgets menu, then unfortunately your best course of action here is to reach out to the Beaver Builder folks directly as to why their widget modules aren’t producing the same results as the “real” widget areas features.

I am sorry that we cannot produce a specific resolution here, but based on your findings, it seems clear that the Beaver Builder plugin is somehow altering the widget output.

Definitely reach out to them, and let me know if there is anything else I can try to help with in the meantime!

For one step here that might help reveal more about this issue, can you share with me the EXACT link to the page on which you found the “fast-forward to next month with events” code that you are trying to use?

I will take a look—perhaps I can share some updated version of that code that might work a bit better. This is not likely, so I don’t want to get your hopes, but will take a look and see if there is anything I can recommend.

    Thanks!
    George

Thanks George for getting back to me.

I found the link to the plugin on this page: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/fast-forward-list-widget-to-next-upcoming-event/

Thanks for checking if this is the latest uptodate version.

I will in the meantime contact Beaver Builder people as well to see what their take is on this.

    Thanks,
    Florian

    Hey Florian,

Thank you for confirming the source of the plugin!

I have not been able to recreate any issues with this plugin, and so it seems definitive that Beaver Builder is breaking the functionality here somehow. I am not familiar with the Beaver Builder product and so unfortunately do not know the specific code within it responsible for this, but I hope their support team can be helpful with this issue!

Is there any way you can have widget areas on your site that are NOT the Beaver Builder widget areas even when Beaver Builder is active? It sounds like when you used non-Beaver Builder widget areas on your site, this plugin worked on widgets as expected. So maybe you could pose an additional question to the Beaver Builder folks along those lines: “How can I have a widget area that is just a default widget area, not a Beaver Builder widget area?” Something like that….

Sorry to disappoint here, Florian! Please let me know what you think and if there’s anything else I can try to help with.

    Hi George,

Sorry for late reply – I’ve been away.

That’s what I thought. I’ll check with the Beaver Builder folks and hopefully they can help.

Sounds good, Florian. I wish you the best of luck with this project!

I will close this thread for now, but if other questions or issues ever arise, open a new thread any time!

    Sincerely,
    George
