    Hi,
I can’t seem to find any documentation with regards to Facebook groups. We have a group for an organization but every time I put it in the settings as “group”, it wants to associate with someone’s personal page. If I put in “groups/groupname” which is the path facebook gives, I get errors and won’t import. Help!

Hi, heatherlander. This is a common failing of the Facebook API. Really, Facebook wants you to sign up for something as the user, not as a group. Even big services like Twitter have a limitation like this.

To configure Facebook Events, you’ll need an app secret and an app key, which are generated by Facebook, and really require you to be logged in with a personal/profile account to generate.

Have you had a chance to go through our Primer? If so, at what point did you get stuck?

Hi Kelly: Thanks for your response. I’m still not quite sure what you’re saying here. I did go through the primer but still not sure about groups (it wasn’t specific – just says “organizations”). I did use my personal profile to sign up for the App info but that’s where I think I got lost. There was a lot of info facebook asks when you access that screen and was only able to fill in a handful of fields, so not sure I have it set up properly. It did spit out a key and secret but when I plug it in on the WP side, it wants to generate the events for a private person in France who has the organization name in her name. I would really appreciate some extra support with this as I’ve paid for the plugin and would love to use it if at all possible. Our organization is for twin moms who don’t want to be a public group because of the support aspect of our comments but do have public events and don’t want to “duplicate” the work we do. Thanks!

Hi, heatherlander. Thanks for taking the time to explain your situation to me. I definitely see what you’re looking for.

We wish we could do this, but unfortunately, we are limited because of Facebook’s API. Unless Facebook makes changes to it, we would be unable to access that information, and thus, unable to import the events.

I’m sorry I don’t have better news for you! Is there anything else I can do to help?
