ParticipantWhen I post a link to our event in Facebook it grabs the stock event calendar image.
Not the featured image for the event.
Is there a way to fix this?
e.g. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5wufs4o7kgvehlk/connectedfb.png?dl=0
If I click through the arrow on Facebook, it will usually find the right one. I just wonder if it could not pull up the stock image and just pull up the only visible image on that event page 🙂

ParticipantHowdy Communicatio,
Thank for sharing the screenshot! It helps me see what you are talking about. Could you share a link to the page in which you are seeing this on as well? That might help shed more light on the matter. What you have described and screenshotted is definitely not a bug I’ve ever seen before, but some further investigation might reveal a culprit.
Cheers!

ParticipantThank you for clarifying. I understand now. I thought you were talking about our Facebook Importer at first.
Facebook tried to intelligently choose which image it thinks is the most interesting. But it seems to not be doing so well on your site. It looks like it is possible to override its choice by adding a few extra tags. Checkout this answer on Stackoverflow.
Out plugin just uses the default thumbnail for a post and retrieves it via the usual get_the_post_thumbnail() function. According to a different Stack Overflow answer it looks like JetPack, ACF, and Yoast all work with those function to automatically generate those extra tags when you have the right settings enabled.
I hope that helps. I am not really a Facebook expert, but that is the best information I could find on Google.
Cheers!

ParticipantThanks for your help.
I will write a plugin to have the og:image meta tag image filled with the proper featured image for Event calendar images, this should take care of it.
Thanks for a fantastic plugin and support!

ParticipantHowdy agian,
You are very welcome. I am glad that pointed you in the right direction. I wish it was something we could do in out plugin. But, it looks like some changed have to be made at the theme level in order to tell Facebook to use a different image.
Please let us know if you need anything else. Cheers!
