Can the FB addon scrape all events from all FB pages in a given locality/country/town, or must all the FB pages be named and configured individually?

    Hi Nick,

Great question! Facebook Events will allow you to import events from Facebook from a specific Facebook page or by using an event’s Facebook ID, but I’m afraid not by location.

As a side note, I would encourage you to check out our Event Aggregator service if you’re at all interested in Facebook importing options. It also does not import by location, but it is going to eventually replace our Facebook Events product and includes a ton more features, including importing options from other sources. Plus, it’s already included in The Events Calendar — all you need to do is purchase a license and add it to the Events > Settings > Licenses screen and it will activate the service without installing any additional plugins or software.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know!

    Cheers!

    Hi Geoff,

I manage and run the blog for a travel agency in Sri Lanka, which includes events. Please check it out:

    http://www.travelblog.pledgeholidays.com/events/

using WordPress and Elegant Themes’ Extra. I recently installed the free Events Calendar. It works fine, except for one or two issues:

    1) I would like to use the Divi builder to create a bespoke calendar page, but cannot because the page cannot be edited, and there appears to be no shortcode to create the calendar in a text module.

    2) Many of the events are sourced from a site that aggregates Facebook events. It would be quicker and easier if it were possible to scrape the events myself.

I am now creating a standalone events subdomain using Divi, and am evaluating possible alternative event plugins, including EventOn, that use shortcodes.

However, having invested time and effort is Events Calendar it would make sense to continue using it, particularly since exporting/importing data would be simpler.

Questions: 1) Does the paid-for pro version support shortcodes? 2) Can the various text elements be edited with CSS to increase type size and fonts? 3) Is there an online manual for Event Agregator? 4) Is there a way for users to search for events using categories?

    Best,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for following up! Let me address your specific questions:

    1) Does the paid-for pro version support shortcodes?

Yes, Events Calendar PRO does support shortcodes. In fact, it support two kinds: one for full calendar views and another for embedding calendar widgets.

    2) Can the various text elements be edited with CSS to increase type size and fonts?

Yes, you can override the CSS for any calendar view or component. Please check out our Themer’s Guide, which includes instructions for how to do that.

    3) Is there an online manual for Event Agregator?

Absolutely. We have a full category dedicated to Event Aggregator in our Knowledgebase here on this site:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/plugin/event-aggregator/

    4) Is there a way for users to search for events using categories?

Yes, our Filter Bar add-on is worth looking into if you’re interested in allowing visitors to display events by category. It also allows you to set filters for other things, like Tag, Venue, Organizer, Time of Day, Cost and many other variables.

    Cheers!

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
