I’ve seen a similar thread on a closed topic discussion but I didn’t see (or understand) how to solve this problem. I am just starting a new website and have a bunch of events already imported but all pictures were cut both left and right sides. Am I missing something in the configuration or is it just an unsolved bug on Facebook’s part.

    Hi!

I’m sorry you are hitting difficulties.

The first thing to note is we are making some changes to the way Facebook Events retrieves event images – and it’s possible that will be beneficial in your case … however, I’m not quite clear as to the problem you are experiencing (as there have been a few different reports of image-related problems – and I can’t seem to access your site using the URL you provided).

Could you clarify and provide a link to one of the affected images/events if possible?

Here is the Link to my page: http://brasileirinho.com/pt/events/
Here is an example of an event on Facebook:

And here is how it shows after being imported with your plugin:

    Thanks for sharing.

So yes, that is a current issue and one we hope to solve in our next release – unfortunately we are do a large degree at the mercy of the Facebook API and though our code is requesting a much larger image where appropriate (and no particular constraints on size are documented in the Facebook API documentation) this is the sort of size that is typically being returned.

If you can bear with us a little longer though you’ll hopefully see a change for the better in the next release.

While I fully understand it is not your fault, you may agree with me that launching a website with those cropped images is not a good idea and it was not my idea either when I purchased your Ad On. So, my next question to you is: what about you give me an option to either change that view to include all details and no images but the ability to add the picture manually? I wouldn’t mind to download/upload those Facebook pictures while waiting for a fix. But I would mind having to enter all other details for each event. Both the List View and the Full Event Page would benefit from that.

OK – that is probably the best approach – I’m not quite sure what you mean by having to enter all other details – are you finding you are unable to change only the featured image for some reason?

No. What I meant was: Copying all information of an event to my website is time consuming and that’s why we buy your Add On. But since it is presently cropping the images, I am asking if you can come up with a temporary Add On that would import all details without the picture. If that would be possible, I could simply download the event image to my computer and insert it manually in my Featured Image Page Slot.

OK, unfortunately though we’re not going to be able to write a one-time add-on to cover this situation. With that in mind, would it be possible to leverage the Facebook Importer to pull in the events (saving you the effort of copying and pasting the details across) and remove or modify the featured image from there.

Though still involving a step that needs to be done manually, it sounds like its one you would be fairly happy to do?

True. I’ll do that. Even though my issue is not resolved, I’ll pick that option to close this thread. Hopefully I’ll hear the good news from you pretty soon. Thank you.

    Hi veruska,

Thanks for marking this resolved. If you need further help, please don’t hesitate to open another thread.
