GuestWe are a nursery group and are looking at online calendar options. We want our parents to be able to add the calendar onto their phones / PCs. What happens if we export an ICS file, parents upload it into their personal calendars and then we make a change? i.e. if we export another ICS file, will they have all the events that were unchanged duplicated? Or with further changes will they have 3 or 4 copies of certain events in their calendars? Or will a new ICS file override duplicative events?

KeymasterHi Alex,
Thanks so much for reaching out and for your interest in our products!
If your users export the ICS file, they will receive a copy of the current calendar. If you make changes to that calendar, the ICS file will not update automatically, as this is not the same as subscribing to a calendar.
Another option would be to set up an RSS feed:
- https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/customize-rss-feed/
- https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/subscribing-calendars-via-rss/
You can also check out our free The Events Calendar, to get a sense of how things work with our plugins.
Also, feel free to check out our demo site here.
Let me know if you have any other questions on this topic!
Thanks,
Jaime

GuestThanks
So if they import an ICS and then re-import an updated ICS, will they have a whole lot of duplicated events?

KeymasterHi Alex,
If you re-import an ICS and the event has changed in time/date, the event will be duplicated. If you re-import an ICS and everything remains the same, and you add items, only those items will be added.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Jaime
