ParticipantI am trying to create an RSS feed for a MailChimp campaign that excludes a specific category of events. I have tried this syntax:
http://site.com/calendar/feed?tribe_events_cat=-%5Bcat id]
and
http://site.com/calendar/feed?tribe_events_cat=-%5Bcat slug]but neither works
I’ve also tried http://site.com/feed?post_type=tribe_events&tribe_events_cat=-%5Bcat id] and this also does not work
However, the basic RSS feed http://site.com/feed?cat=-%5Bcat id] does work for blog posts to exclude a blog category.
I don’t want to exclude the posts from the main events RSS feed for the site – I only need to exclude them for this MailChimp RSS feed campaign, which sends out every week.
thank you!

MemberHi Gretchen!
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
Unfortunately, there is no default feed to only fetch a specific category of events. You can customize the RSS feed for your events with some custom coding.
The following article is a good starting point you can take as a reference to customize the RSS feed > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/customize-rss-feed/
I hope that helps. Is there anything else I can help you with? Let me know.

ParticipantAs I said, I do not want a custom feed, I want the WordPress feed functionality to work – is it not working because this is a custom post type? My understanding is that the syntax site.com/feed?post_type=tribe_events&tribe_events_cat=-[cat id] should work on custom post types.

MemberHi Gretchen!
I’m sorry for the confusion with this.
Unfortunately, event feeds do not support event category exclusions by default. The syntax you mention does work for the main blog posts, but not for events.
You can use a url like yoursite.com/feed?&post_type=tribe_events&tribe_events_cat=event-category-slug to only show a specific event category, but if you need to exclude a specific event category, then you’ll need some custom coding to achieve that.
I do see the use of being able to exclude an event category from the feed, so if you think this is something that you would like to see as a new feature, I suggest you post that idea in our User voice > https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas so others can vote for it.
Let me know if any follow up questions.
