I’m using the canvas theme, which uses related articles in my blog area. Past events often get included in these related articles, which is a waste. I do not want to direct readers to an event that’s happened in the past. Can you suggest a workaround, or tell me how Events get coded (are they considered posts?) so we can figure this out?

    Thanks!

Hey there, Barry! Thanks for getting in touch.

Good question–that’s certainly interesting. Events are a custom post type, which means they are posts, but completely separate from the default WordPress post.

If you head over to Events > Settings, there is an option in the General Settings to “Include events in main blog loop.” Is that option selected? If so, uncheck it and save your settings to see if that makes a difference.

Otherwise, it appears that the query the theme is using to pull in related posts needs to be updated to exclude the tribe_events post type and I’d suggest reaching out to the theme author for more guidance.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

The option “Include events in main blog loop” was NOT checked, so I guess this means a custom work-around. Exclude the tribe_events, got it.

    Thanks.

Sure thing, thanks for following up! I’ll go ahead and close this thread, but please feel free to start a new one if there’s anything else we can do to help.

    Cheers!
    Geoff
