GuestHi,
Is there a way (an add-on?) that gives me the possibility to create an event with no specific date? Our calendar both needs to show events on specific times and dates, and events that the customers can see, but as they are ongoing offers, the users must be able to choose the date themselves (either in the events calendar. Or alternatively there is no date and time listed, as they can plan it with the people arranging the event themselves). Is this somehow possible.
Also we need the customers to be able to filter the events by age, price, theme and geography. Will this be possible if we buy the filter bar?
If we buy add-ons will they be tied to the URL? Right now we are building the page in a temporary URL, and when the site is done, we will move the existing page to the new one. Will this be a problem?
Kind regards

MemberHi there! Thanks for getting in touch!
Hm, that’s an interesting question you’ve got there! If you’re looking to create an event that won’t display in the same manner as other events with set dates, your best bet may be to create events set on arbitrary dates well in the past, then place those events in a sidebar widget or other widgetized area so they’re still accessible to your users. You could then specify the full details of the event in the description field for clarity. (If you’d like to hide the arbitrary dates from view, our Themer’s Guide would be a great starting point for modifying your templates as needed!)
Would something like this work for your needs?
Regarding your other questions, yes, Filter Bar will definitely handle all of your listed use cases–and more! 🙂 And no worries about deploying your licenses on a test site, as you can simply log into your account to deactivate them from your tester once you’re ready to go live. You can read more about how to move license keys between sites on our Knowledgebase here.
I hope that helps to answer your questions! Please don’t hesitate to follow up if there’s anything else we can do to assist! 🙂

GuestThank you for your help. I have now purchased the filter bar and it solved some of the issues in my former mail. I have a few more pre-sale question.
1. I am still in doubt what to do with the on-going events. I want them to show up in the search results together with the events on specific dates, and not separately in the widgets. Maybe I can create the events as lasting for the entire schoolyear (15th of August 2016 to 20th of June 2017) but I want to avoid that the event shows multiple times in the search result. It should show only once. (I hope you understand, what I mean, it is a bit difficult for me to explain in English)
2. When I make a search in the events, I have created, it seems like I only can make the search on a specific day. Is it possible to remove this? The events are more important than the dates for our users, therefore they should be able to see all events within a year, that matches their filtered priorities, as a list of events, they can choose from. Maybe I am looking the wrong place? Or maybe this is not possible with the free version? Will this be possible if I buy the PRO version?
3. I would like to have a function, where the most recently added events show up with pictures on the front page of my site. Will this be possible if I buy the PRO version?
I hope you can help me.
Thank you in advance
Kind regards

MemberHi again! Thanks for following up with us–glad to hear that Filter Bar is working out great for you so far! 🙂 I’d be happy to help you with these other questions of yours.
- A year-long event in the way you’re describing should work just fine for user searches–as long as it’s a single event that spans the entire year and not a daily recurring event, it should only appear one time in a given set of search results. On calendar views the event will show up on every singular day that it covers, but if you’d like, you can hide these events from the main calendar altogether by assigning them a specific category and then removing that category from the main calendar view using this snippet.
- The date search functionality actually works a little differently than what you’re describing, as it only filters search results to show events beginning on or after the given date. This can be helpful if your users are, for example, only looking for events that begin after next month–they can search “July 1” and see all events falling on July 1st or later. That said, the date field is totally optional, and your users can simply ignore it when searching to see all matching events regardless of date.
- This is definitely possible through customization, though we don’t support it as a built-in feature with any of our products. Events created with The Events Calendar are stored in WordPress’s database as custom post types (with the slug tribe_events), which means they can be accessed via a standard WordPress query to pull whatever data you’d like to display on any page. WordPress’s documentation on WP_Query and our own Themer’s Guide would both be great places to start if you’re interested in learning more about how to implement your own customizations!
I hope that helps! Let me know if you should have any other questions!
