Events to specific url tutorial breaks my website

[Maple Leaf Tours]

I have been looking for a way to manipulate the plugin to work for our tours website as a way of showing tours on a calendar, the idea was to click on the title of the event and go to the page we have dedicated to that tour.

I found your tutorial: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/make-links-event-go-straight-event-website/
but it completely broke our website when I tried inserting the code into the functions.php and had a complete panic attack trying to get it reversed.

Do you have any other way to make this possible as I can’t risk breaking our website again. I don’t need an event details page I just want to link to our existing pages.

We’ll be glad to answer your questions.

The only ways to achieve what you are looking for are:

1. The snippet you tried (I just tested it and it works – I am suspecting you might have either in the wrong spot of your functions.php file OR that you did not remove the opening < ?php tag)
2. Using a redirection plugin where you manually input each single event URL  and where you want it to redirect to

You might consider setting up a staging / testing clone of your site to experiment.
