events that are deleted are still showing up in the front end

I have a venue that closed, so i deleted all of the events that were happening there. however, somehow these events are still showing up on the front end.

I need this page to stop showing these events, as they are deleted and do not exist.

Please advise.

Hey there!

I see what you mean.

Just out of curiosity, is the venue template customized at all? Or perhaps any functions you’re using to customize the calendar? The strange thing that stands out to me is that the links for those events point to a Month View URL instead of a single event. That makes me wonder if something is getting in the way of how the page should behave under normal circumstances, which would be to not display those events.

Another approach might be caching. Do you have any caching plugins installed and, if so, does it help to empty the site’s cache and/or deactivated that caching plugin? It’s very odd that something deleted would continue to display, but cached site data would help explain things, even if it is a bit of a long shot.

Also, it would be great to know:

• When the issue popped up. Has this issue always existed or did it happen after an update or change to the site? If something changed, what was the change?
• Your system information. You can find this at Events > Settings > Help. Copy the info at the bottom of the screen and paste it here as a private reply so I can look for any red flags in the settings.
• If the issue happens in default conditions. I see you noted having tried switching to a default WordPress theme and deactivating all other plugins. What was the result of that? Did the issue still happen?

Let’s start here and see what we find.

If I understand your issue correctly…

http://mauitime.com/venue/closed-ritas/ is the link to your venue that is now closed

I do see “Upcoming Events” at that venue’s page, all of which are recurring.

Maybe you could edit each of those recurring events to be stopped as of the date this venue closed (i.e. delete all future occurrences).

Please let me know if that solves the issue for you or if there’s something else I’m missing. I look forward to helping you resolve your issue.

so glad you are picking up this thread. So actually if you go to my first post on this issue – you can see – I have deleted all of the recurring events that have happened at rita’s. however the venue is still showing them there.

so to recap: i have already deleted all of the events that are showing up on the rita’s venue. That is the mystery we need to crack.

let me know what i need to do from here….but i really want the events to not show up once deleted.

Could you send me some wp-admin screenshots (we’re not allowed to log in to customer sites) of the deleted events so I can see their published status (should be Trash, right?) or see when the last recurring date is (should all be prior to that venue’s closing date, right?)

And any other screenshots that may be helpful.
