Events page Disappeared

Hi,

The page where my events are listed has basically disappeared. There’s some truncated weirdness on the page but it’s not a proper calendar.

I updated Canvas theme to 5.9 and activated a child theme so that I could do all kinds of tom foolery with the styling and some basic functions etc. I didn’t add anything different to the child pages. Just cut and pasted the codes from the main Canvas theme files and put them all in their rightful child theme folder.

Some things I’ve tried:
– resetting / resaving permalinks
– I can open a single event and see the page fine. For example this works: http://barrybradford.com/schedule/george-s-patton-man-germans-feared-2-2-2-2/
– I do have a static front page setup via the Settings > Reading
– Tried using the default slug for the calendar, got the same weird non-calendar page

Finally, I did activate the 2014 WP theme and the calendar appears. So it’s something to do with Canvas. I have had this trouble before – just couldn’t locate old messages to see about a fix though I suppose it’s not the same problem.

Hi,

Thanks for using our plugin for some long and sorry for the issues you are having. I can try to help troubleshoot them with you.

Do you have any custom templates in the child or parent theme for the events calendar?

And have you tried changing the Events Template in the settings?

Head to this page:

Events > Settings > Display Tab

Then change this setting:

Events Template to Default Page Template
(or Default Event Template if already on that one)

Let me know what you find out and we can go from there.

Hi,

OK I was able to locate my old requests (after hitting the send button) and saw what the workaround was for the last time this happened. I checked the child theme functions.php to see that I had not copied that over. Once I copied the canvas specific workaround to the functions file, the events page came back.

But the suggestion for changing the template in the events settings actually helped me with a different little thing that’s been bugging me but didn’t seem worth it to fill out a new message. So thanks very much for this!

Oh can you provide the link for the workaround for Canvas. I would find it useful to know what it does and to be able to provide it to other customers that have issues.
