    Hi,

I noticed the events that are getting imported from my Google Calendar does not contain the time anymore. I tried to set up the scheduled import all over to start from scratch but when I preview it, it gives me the wrong times. I also checked each event to see the times, and they are either incorrect or it displays as an all day event when it is not.

I haven’t changed anything, and I also tried to update the plug-in in case it would help, and it did not.

What is going and what can I do to fix this?

    Thanks so much!

    Hello,

I’m sorry that you’re running into this issue, but I’ll be happy to help you get it figured out!

First, can you verify that you have the correct timezone set under Settings > General > Timezone?

Can you please send me the link that you’re importing from so that I can test it out on my end?

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I checked the timezone is correct, but the import still shows the wrong time.

Here is the link I’m importing from – https://solutions.acstechnologies.com/crm/events/1029/all-church-calendar.ics/

    Thank you!

    Thanks for sending that link!

I tested it out on my end, but these events appear to be coming in with the correct time (I took a look at the ics file, and the time on the imported events matches the time in the file). Can you also verify that the events in the calendar that you’re importing from have the correct time zone?

Can you try running the import again in a default environment (all other plugins besides The Events Calendar disabled and the Twenty Seventeen theme enabled) and see if the time imports correctly? You’ll want to make sure that you have either “Import events but preserve local changes to event fields.” or “Overwrite my event with any changes from the original source.” selected under Events > Settings > Imports > Event Update Authority.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer,

I tried that already, and still getting the same inaccurate times. I also checked our database timezone, and it’s correct.

When I select one event to check the start and end times, it shows the wrong timezone (UTC) so somehow some setting has it set to the UTC timezone. Any ideas? My wordpress settings have it in the correct local timezone, so I’m not sure where that setting could be different since I’ve disabled all plug ins already.

Also, the start and end times in the actual events or calendar are not showing up in addition to inaccurate times being imported.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    Just to clarify…

“When I select one event to check the start and end times, it shows the wrong timezone (UTC) so somehow some setting has it set to the UTC timezone.”

Which events are showing the wrong timezone? The events on your calendar or in the source?

I would also recommend taking a look at this article, as timezone settings can sometimes be a bit tricky.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer,

The imported events in my calendar are showing the wrong timezones.

I read your article and tried a few things, including the extension that enables only location time zones. Still no changes. Do you know of any other settings that involve time zones that might have changed? I haven’t changed any plugins the last month or so and this issue is very recent.

The times are still not showing the calendar either. The navigation is showing up twice, but the time and location disappeared. They used to be there. Did the previous plugin update change anything involving these things?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jennifer,

The events weren’t showing up because I haven’t been importing them as regularly as I usually do to avoid confusion for people visiting the page when they see the wrong dates and times. I imported it manually, and they should be on there now on firstchurchlf.org/events. If you click on a single event, a double navigation shows, and no time or location. This info should also be showing when you hover on an event in the calendar view, but it’s not.

The timezone is currently in local time, which is Chicago, and not UTC. I experimented with the UTC timezone, and tried different cities as well, and I’m actually getting the same times that are inaccurate. By that I mean even in different timezones that I’m setting it to, the times being imported don’t change. I also tried importing in different formats (iCal, Google Calendar, etc.) and still get the same problem.

To answer your last question, the wrong times are showing up in the import preview as well. If I manually add the event, or edit an individual event, I can correct the times but they still don’t show up in the event page.

Thank you so much for your patience in helping me figure this out!

    Hello,

If you create a new event through the user interface (under Events > Add New), is everything showing up correctly?

Since the location is not showing up, it sounds like there might be something else going on besides just a timezone issue.

Do you have a staging environment set up? If not, the free Duplicator plugin can help you get one together.

In your staging environment, please disable everything except The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro and enable the Twentyseventeen theme. You’ll also want to make sure you are using the current versions (WordPress 4.9.7, TEC 4.6.20.1, and Pro 4.4.29.2) Make sure to have WP_DEBUG enabled and try running the import again. If you were running into these same issues when creating an event through the interface on your live site, please try again here. Can you also send me a screenshot of the settings on the back end for an event where these issues are occurring along with a link to that same event on the front end? If you have been replying via email, please note that attachments will not come through – you will need to login and upload the screenshots directly to the thread.

If you see any errors when importing or on your single event page (on the front end or event edit screen), please copy/paste them here.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer
