Events not displaying in widget

Hi, I found a thread similar to my problem, but when I followed the steps that worked for the guy who posted, it didn’t work for me.

Have updated wp and all events calendar plugins, and widget title displays in sidebar widget but no events are listed. I tried these steps:

1 Deactivated pro, sidebar widget and events show

2 Deleted widget from sidebar

3 Activated pro, returned widget to sidebar, widget title show but no events.

Thanks for reaching out to us – I know you mention in your post specifically that you’ve updated your plugins, but just to be 100% clear about the status of your site at this time, can you clarify each of these details?

1. What version of The Events Calendar is currently active on your site?
2. What version of Events Calendar PRO is currently active on your site?
3. What version of WordPress is your site currently running?

It may seem redundant to list the version numbers themselves, but version number discrepancies could certainly be at play here and it happens more than you might expect! 🙂

Aside from version numbers, I’m wondering if you could try heading to your site’s wp-config.php file and changing this line of code:

define('WP_DEBUG', false);

to this:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);

Then, take another look at pages on your site with the broken Events Calendar PRO widget, and see if any PHP errors show up. (If they do, copy and paste them into Gists at http://gist.github.com and share links to those Gists here).

Just to be sure – you don’t happen to be using any custom Events Calendar templates in your theme, do you?

George, things are going from bad to worse here, because now I can’t even log in to the site.

I can tell you, though, that a couple of weeks ago I updated wp, events calendar and events calendar pro. Before I made the upgrade, the client was having problems, though. Pretty much the same ones, I think. I thought that the upgrade would fix the problem but it didn’t.

As soon as I’m able to get into the back end, I’ll let you know what versions are installed.

I feel pretty sure there have been no template customization here.

Hello,

Thank you for your patience and for the update on your version numbers. The biggest red flag is this:

events calendar pro — 3.7

No more troubleshooting can be done without ensuring that PRO is up-to-date, which currently is 3.10.1. You can get a copy of this right here on this site at http://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads

Try updating PRO and see if that helps (if you don’t have a backup of your site, you should definitely make one before updating/installing any theme or plugin, not just Events Calendar 🙂 ).

Also: you can set that WP_DEBUG code back to “false” instead of true for now. Thank you for enabling that to begin with! From here, the only reason we’d need to re-activate that code is if we run into other weird issues that I’m not able to reproduce or something.

I have downloaded the plugin and tried to install it, but I got this message:

There is an update available for The Events Calendar PRO but your license key is out of installs. Visit the Modern Tribe website to manage your installs, upgrade your license, or purchase a new one.

I but I just renewed my license. ??

Hey Meg,

Thank you for the update! The problem there isn’t regarding the renewal of your license, and your license is indeed valid.

However, it’s just activated on too many sites for the license level.

Your best option is to head to Events > Settings > Licenses in your current site and remove the license key from there, then “Save Changes”.

Then, head to your license keys page on this site → http://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/license-keys/

“Disconnect” the site you’re having trouble with, then upgrade your version of Events Calendar Pro on your site and hopefully that error will no longer display.

Once you can proceed with the upgrade process and have the most recent version of Events Calendar Pro on your site, then go back to Events > Settings > Licenses and add your license key back in.

Well, the message didn’t go away, but it still won’t install. Now the message is

Hey Margaret,

Okay, that warning means that the older version of Events Calendar PRO is not deleted off of your site. If you head to your site’s Plugins page, do you see it still listed there? If so, delete it and then try installing the newer version again.
