ParticipantHi –
I have inserted the events list widget onto a section of my homepage using a shortcode, which I have generated using a plugin called amr shortcode any widget. However, it is showing events that have already taken place even though I have checked the box to not show the widget if there are no upcoming events – doesn’t seem to be respecting that. Not sure how to fix, as I am not sure if it’s an issue with the shortcode generator or the events list widget itself…….

ParticipantJust for context, I have checked the other shortcodes I have generated for other widgets so that I can place wherever I want on my site, including a widget for a recent blog post plugin, and those are all working just fine, so seems to be an issue with the events list widget….

KeymasterHi jcostas81,
Thanks for reaching out!
It’s difficult to say where the issue lies.
Have you tried the shortcodes that come built-in with Events Calendar Pro?
Let me know if any of those would do the trick for you.
Cheers,

ParticipantThere doesn’t seem to be one that just shows the upcoming events.

ParticipantMy testing has made me believe it’s an issue with the Events List widget, or at least it’s compatibility with the shortcode generator. It’s not the caching, and I don’t think it’s an issue with the shortcode generator itself because I am using the shortcode for other plugins and they are all working just fine.
I tried adding the event lists widget to my blog sidebar and it works as it should – showing the one upcoming event – but it is no longer working when i generate a shortcode for it and insert it into a section of a page. It used to prior to the update. It now doesn’t update at all – it shows old events, and you can’t change the title, etc.

KeymasterHow about using this built-in shortcode:
[tribe_events_list limit="1"]I believe that should give you the next upcoming event.
You can find more details and more shortcodes here:

ParticipantI’ll give it a shot thanks. If I wanted to increase the number of upcoming events shown, would I just change the number? For example, from “1” to “3”?

ParticipantHmm, it still seems to only be showing past events. It shows the earliest scheduled past event. For whatever reason, the widget no longer works with the shortcode generator since the latest version came out. Weird.

KeymasterHi,
Yes, to increase the number of events shown, you need to change the “limit”.
Based on my latest tests this was still working. Do you maybe have any customizations in place? Can you try what happens if you switch to a default theme like twentysixteen and deactivate all non-calendar plugins?
Not quite sure either why it doesn’t work with the shortcode generator. While we cannot provide 100% compatibility with all plugins, when we have some time we can try to take a look at it. Which plugin are you using?

KeymasterI see that you are also using a caching plugin. Make sure to clear your cache, or best, deactivate it while testing.
