ParticipantHi,
I’ve used WPML to translate my site.
I’m having problems with the events list shortcode, which works just fine on the Finnish website (the original) but doesn’t work on the English (Translated) pages.
On my site I have a calendar page that displays all events. In the Finnish side of the site, I have two pages, one displaying only all the workshops, the other displaying only all the weekly classes (both of these pages made with the events list shortcode).
However, with the english translation, it doesn’t matter what i type into the category name part of the shortcode, it still lists everything / all events. Can you help me out?
Shortcode I’m using is:
[tribe_events_list category=”weekly classes” cost=”yes” venue=”yes” city=”yes” organizer=”yes”]
Finnish page for weekly classes (using above shortcode with “viikkotunnit” in the category):
https://www.valontaival.com/kaikki-viikkotunnit/Finnish page for workshops: (using above shortcode with “työpajat” in the category): https://www.valontaival.com/kaikki-tyopajat/
English page for weekly classes (using above shortcode): https://www.valontaival.com/en/upcoming-weekly-classes/
English page for workshops (using above shortcode with “workshops” in the category): https://www.valontaival.com/en/upcoming-workshops
Thanks!

MemberGood afternoon Karoliina and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the shortcode failing to work as expected.
I would love to help you with this topic. The good news is that the shortcodes should work great with WPML.
So let’s find out why this is not the case for you. There are a couple of reasons why this might not work. But, the 2 top ones are:
- Inadvertently failing to use straight quote characters ” (as opposed to any other ones – e.g.: ”). Make sure you are using straight quotes.
- Forgetting the dash (-) in the slug (e.g.: weekly-classes , not weekly classes). I am pretty sure that is the issue in your case
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

ParticipantHi!
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
I checked both things you mentioned. I changed the category name to “weekly-classes” and changed this in the shortcode, and ensured the quotation marks were as you said (I think I can only get the straight quotes on the mac i’m using..), but neither of these things helped. I still get workshops listed in the weekly class page and vice versa. it’s not properly recognising the different event categories?
Like I said, it works fine in the original (Finnish) version, and I copypasted the shortcode, just changed the category names in the shortcode…
Could it be that although I’ve translated the categories with WPML from finnish to english, that there’s some muck-up in that somewhere along the line and somehow it doesn’t recognise the different categories..? or something?
thanks!
