Hi, I downloaded The Events Calendar a while ago to use to migrate my events listings from google calendar to something that looks and works a lot better but haven’t yet had a massive amount of time to commit to doing it.
Yesterday I spent a few hours adding some events, then when I went back to look later, around half of them had disappeared. I couldn’t find them in trash but although I didn’t think I’d done anything, I assumed I must have done something wrong.
This afternoon I added more. When I left the house at 2.30pm there were around 1200 events listed. I checked each one after I added it to make sure it looked okay and it all seemed to be fine. I have just logged in again and there are now 262. They are not in the trash, I didn’t delete them and no-one else has access to them. Where on earth have they gone?
December 12, 2014 at 4:02 pm #916798BarryMemberHi weezypops,
That’s concerning but hopefully there is a straightforward explanation.
Have they vanished entirely or do you find that you can still see them on the frontend? Sometimes we find that – inadvertently – some filters are applied (via the Filters & Columns meta box above the events) and this reduces the total number of events that are listed.
Please try clearing any filters that might have been applied via those controls, navigate away and return to the list of events.
Are they now present again?
December 12, 2014 at 4:23 pm #916818weezypopsParticipantNo, none of them reappear that way. I’ve tried clearing filters and it’s still the same. I’ve just gone back in and nothing more has been lost – still at 262 events, which is good, but still massively down from the 1000+ earlier.
December 13, 2014 at 3:35 am #917107weezypopsParticipantHow strange, I thought I’d replied to this last night! They’ve vanished entirely, front and back-end. I’ve tried resetting filters and that didn’t do anything either.
December 14, 2014 at 7:53 am #917773weezypopsParticipantNow dropped downn to 127 events, even though I’ve changed nothing since friday. It seems that it’s deleting a whole day’s events – on friday night it had deleted weds thurs and sun, today fri and sat too.
December 15, 2014 at 6:44 am #918474BarryMemberCould you share your system information (normally found at the bottom of the Events > Help admin screen)? Thanks!

UTCDecember 16, 2014 at 2:45 pm #920341BarryMemberSo you noted having deactivated all other plugins when you opened this thread: did you find that the problem continued when The Events Calendar Housekeeper in particular was deactivated?
If deactivating that resolves the problem can you confirm if it was “misfiring” and removing events outside of the scope specified in its settings?
December 17, 2014 at 2:51 am #920838weezypopsParticipantIt did but I don’t think I tried adding any after deactivating it so I will add a few test events with everything deactivated and report back.
December 17, 2014 at 7:39 am #921135BarryMemberDefinitely: it sounds like it could in some ways be a natural fit for the problem and this isn’t something we see when our core products are running by themselves, so eliminating that possibility is a good way to go here.
Let me know how you get on!
December 18, 2014 at 1:51 am #922348weezypopsParticipantWell they are still there this morning so fingers crossed.
If it does turn out to be this, would it mean I can’t use that plug-in at all or might there be a workaround?
December 18, 2014 at 6:45 am #922461BarryMemberIf it’s causing a problem it would be best to avoid it.
I actually wrote it as an unofficial project a while back and will make a note to look into this, however for the time being I’d recommend leaving it deactivated.
January 2, 2015 at 2:27 pm #927953BarryMemberHi! It’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. If we can help with anything else, though, please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed. Thanks!
