ParticipantMy client’s Events page (http://mindfulnessconsultantsllc.com/events/) is currently using the Tribe Events stylesheet, and the default view is set to the List display. Here’s the issue I’m having:
Each individual event has 2 lines of text in the description separated by a divider shortcode, and displays correctly in the single event display (link below; 3rd event in List display)
http://mindfulnessconsultantsllc.com/event/mini-workshop-introduction-to-heart-rhythm-mediation/Those 2 lines of text are also displaying in the List view beneath the Event details but the shortcode isn’t carrying over, so there is no break between them. I tried using a few different html breaks as well, but they still don’t carry over.
I feel like I’ve read roughly 93% of the internet trying to figure out how to address the issue, and the only solutions I’ve come across require editing the template/theme files – which is a bit out of my league skill-wise? Is there an easier way to add line breaks or dividers to the text displayed in the main List page?

MemberHi Elizabeth,
Sorry for the trouble here!
Will you please try adding installing this plugin (ZIP file download) to your site? The calendar should show HTML elements by default but there has been an issue in the latest release. This plugin should help with that while we work on an official patch.
Let me know if that helps!

ParticipantPlugin installed and activated. I’m not sure what the next step is though? Or how to utilize it? I tried to
*Sorry, bit of an amateur when it comes to web dev – a friend hired me to design promo flyers for her business and it snowballed into me making her this website. I understand the fundamentals of html & css, but have minimal understanding of how to apply them.

MemberHey Elizabeth,
No worries! Did you activate the plugin? You can check by heading to Plugins > Installed Plugins from the WordPress dashboard.
If it is active and the break is not there, then it’s likely that it is not doing what you are looking for.
Basically, it restores the ability for HTML (like bolding and italics) to display in excerpts the way default WordPress does.
The problem though is that I do not believe default WordPress displays horizontal rules in excerpts like you have in the content description.
Another way to test would be to add a custom excerpt to the event post. If you head to the event post editor, there should be a Excerpt meta box lower on the screen (screenshot) where you can add your custom text, including HTML. Add your horizontal rule there and see if it renders in the List View.
And, if that doesn’t work, then I’m afraid it will take some custom development which it sounds like you’ve been looking into.
Let me know what shakes out and hopefully it displays on its own.
Cheers!

ParticipantThe plugin is activated. Still no luck with the line break. If I could figure out how to get FileZilla to connect, I’m sure I could make it work from there, but unfortunately that’s not working out for me either.

MemberShoot, I was hoping the plugin would do the trick.
I do think the next best route will be to write a new function that will allow HTML in excerpts. I found this post and it looks to be a good starting point.
Sorry I don’t have a concrete solution for you here, but I do hope this at least get you started in the right direction.
Cheers,
