ParticipantHi guys, recorded a screencast to show how my recurring set date changes automatically after revisit to edit. https://www.yousendit.com/download/WFJXSkhld0FIcWZyZHNUQw
Issue may be same as Steve in April. It was working fine before. Only discovered lately when I sign in to update. I have sent an email subject ‘events-calendar-pro date jumps’ separately-included are my logins. Below is the URL of dev site. Please advise as I need to remedy the actual site.June 28, 2013 at 4:54 pm #52491Jonah
ParticipantHi Noxaen,
Sorry to hear about the trouble. What is the link to the thread you reference from Steve in April? It would be helpful to know what if any solution we had there or what was some of the correspondance back and forth.
Thanks,

MemberHey there noxaen. Thanks for the follow-up here; Jonah’s last day with us was actually Friday, but I’m happy to help get this sorted for you.
If I’m understanding the issue here properly, it sounds like a byproduct of running inconsistent version numbers. You’d need to be on The Events Calendar 3.0.2 and Events Calendar PRO 3.0.4. Can you confirm that you’re seeing this problem even with the codebases current?

ParticipantYes Rob, My issue is about the dates resetting itself upon revisting same event post. As advised, i did update the plugin but it mess up all my CSS layout. So I revert back to 2.0.11. Any work around please advice.

MemberHi noxaen,
A lot of work has taken place since 2.0.11 and I’d be reluctant to spend too much time on this one in case it has indeed been rectified (or is no longer a problem) with our latest releases.
Can you upgrade from 2.0.11 or else test out the latest versions in a development/testing environment?
Thanks!

ParticipantAppreciate you being frank about the reluctant part Barry.
Trust me, having bought this plugin at commercial price – wasting anyone’s time is the last thing we both want.
Without much further ado, I have updated again and as mentioned, the design of my calendar is now different. There’s a red dialog box that asks me to pair with an older version(see image link) https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-OarUN9udJyakoxZXdjTTBvbWc/edit?usp=sharing
and my single recurring event in my previous setting have being broken up into hundreds.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,

MemberCan you confirm that you updated both The Events Calendar (the free, core plugin) and Events Calendar PRO (the premium plugin which builds on the core version)?

ParticipantI confirm I updated The Events Calendar but how do i update Events Calendar PRO? Please guide, I have just downloaded the latest 3.0.5. Thanks.

MemberIf you have entered your license key in the Events → Settings admin pages you should be able to do this automatically, otherwise you would need to manually upload it (via FTP, for example).
If you do this manually please remember that once in place on your server it will not work unless it is unzipped – so you basically have a choice between unzipping it on your own computer and then uploading it, or else uploading the .zip file and unzipping it once it’s on your server.
Does that help?

ParticipantThanks. Will the licanse key work for 1 main and 1 sub domain? Note: this is the dev site.
September 24, 2013 at 1:07 pm #67551noxaen
ParticipantHi Barry, I have updated both plugins (without license code). Please advise.

MemberHi noxaen,
Generally speaking if you have two distinct sites and you wish to receive automated updates and support for both then it would be advisable to have two license keys (or a business license). If one of them is a dev site however then there is no particular need to do this – the software should function just fine without a license key.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Barry, 2 questions for now.
1. Now the recurring events have been separated into multiple single events instead of data in just one post. Is this correct?
2. As for wanting to retain the earlier design, I have no choice but to redo am I right?
3. If this is the case and I choose not to update it, will ModernTribe still help me fix the ‘date reset issue’ I initially have?September 25, 2013 at 9:10 am #67679Barry
MemberHi Noxaen,
Let me try to answer these points in turn.
Now the recurring events have been separated into multiple single events instead of data in just one post. Is this correct?
Not quite. Although it may seem superficially as if there are many separate events/posts there is actually only one and the recurring instances are established using post meta data. Structurally there isn’t a particularly large difference between 2.0.11 and 3.0.3 in this regard.
As for wanting to retain the earlier design, I have no choice but to redo am I right?
If you want it to look exactly as did the earlier version then you’d certainly have to make a number of changes.
If this is the case and I choose not to update it, will ModernTribe still help me fix the ‘date reset issue’ I initially have?
It’s unlikely in the extreme that we will make any further changes to the 2.x codebase, so even if this did happen to be a bug in our code the fix (assuming a fix is needed in our newer releases) would be applied to the current 3.x stream.
All we can really do here is suggest you run through the regular troubleshooting steps (deactivate all other plugins and switch to a default, unmodified theme) as this isn’t something that we have seen on a “stock” installation of our plugins, even with those earlier versions, and certainly looks like a conflict.
