Events Countdown is 1 hour off (slow)

My blog is set for the Central Time zone. My events are all over the world, but many are in the U.S. Eastern Time zone. I just implemented the Events Countdown widget and noticed that the events countdown ticker is 1 hour off (slow, reporting 1 extra hour until the event than actually exists).

Example:

Event that occurs in 8 days 10 hours 36+ minutes in the Eastern time zone is being reported by my website’s Events Countdown widget with a countdown of 08 DAYS : 11 HOURS : 35 MIN. Verified that event is set with Eastern Time Zone (as it needs to be) and my blog is set to Central Time zone (as it needs to be).

I have global events, as a reminder, so I cannot hard-code anything.

I’m currently running version 3.6 of The Events Calendar & The Events Calendar Pro due to the issues with the newer versions (which brought my site offline for over 15 hours–Error 500s etc.)

Thanks for using our plugins and for reaching out with this question. Let me try to help you with that.

What could be the cause here the end of the daylight saving time. I know that it should be only beginning November, still, with these electronic gadgets you never know, could you possibly test it with an event that is in 2-3 day (definitely before weekend) and check if you are still having the time difference?

I’m afraid I didn’t see your request in a timely (heh) fashion. However, I have a different event now in my countdown and for whatever reason that one has an accurate countdown — no discrepancy in the hours. We shall see if it remains accurate when our Daylight Saving Time goes into effect here in a couple days (November 6) 😉
