Luke
ParticipantI am trying to integrate the Events Calendar Widget onto a page (eg http://caltaf.com/test-page). However, the following does not work:
- Navigating to next or previous months
- Selecting specific days
I am integrating the Calendar using the widget shortcode:
[tribe_mini_calendar]When I change my theme to the Twenty Fourteen default WordPress theme, everything works! So there is clearly a conflict of some sort with my theme.
Are you able to have a look at my page and see if it’s clear to you what the conflict is? Or any other ideas?
Best regards,

MemberHi Luke and thanks for reaching out!
I definitely see what you mean. I do notice an error message when inspecting your site:
Uncaught TypeError: $widget_wrapper.on is not a function (widget-calendar.js:43)
In other words, it looks like there could be a Javascript error in the theme that is preventing the script from loading correctly. Are you, by chance, able to follow up with the theme author to see if they might be able to shed some light on what’s happening? I’d be interested to know if there’s anything we should be doing on our end and will leave this thread open in case any questions come up that I can help answer.
Thanks!

ParticipantThank you for your reply Geoff. The Theme author was not helpful. If we better identify the incompatibility, I will definitely follow up with the theme author.
Otherwise I will have to find a new theme (something I was hoping to avoid for a while) because the Event Calendar at this point is more important than this theme I’m using (which hasn’t been the best anyway).
So, any other ideas that I can pursue?
Best regards,

MemberThanks for following up, Luke!
Shoot, I’m unable to see the content from the link you shared because it requires a login. No worries, though! You can share any pertinent information from that and I’d be happy to do my best with it to see what we can possibly do on this end to resolve the incompatibility–though I definitely cannot guarantee that we will be able to solve it.
Thanks!

ParticipantI understand if you cannot solve this. But I appreciate you looking into it. The theme’s author said:
Hello Luke,
Unfortunately troubleshooting for third party plugins is not part of our support policy.
You can try using some of our other free themes to see if the plugin would work with them. Otherwise, if you paid for that plugin, please consult with the plugin developers, they should know how to solve that issue. That was all.

MemberAh, bummer. Thanks for the additional info!
I’ve been clicking around and trying to find something specific but am coming up short. I do see that the full calendar view is indeed working, so that’s good.
That leads me to believe that the core issue is that Javascript conflict, since it only seems to happen on a page that is generated by the theme template rather than the calendar template–that, and the fact that the shortcode does work in the default WordPress theme.
A couple things you could try before searching for new themes:
- Checking if there are any options within the theme to disable scripts. Not all themes have this, but it’s worth looking. This could be in a Settings or Customize screen.
- Enable the calendar Debug Mode under Events Settings (screenshot). Enabling this will provide additional information in the console that could point to something.
- You’ll notice that last option has some instructions for using the Debug Bar plugin. That is another route we could try to find the exact conflict.
Hopefully one of these will yield more information! Sorry I haven’t been able to track it down to this point.
Thanks,

ParticipantThanks Geoff,
I have disabled as many of the fancy features I could from the theme’s settings. No change.
I have enabled Debug Mode, but am not sure where to access the log from.
I have installed the Debug Bar plugin, and get the following:- view from in the dashboard (I notice the “please enable WP_DEBUG”)
- I am not sure how to access the debug menu from a webpage (clicking it doesn’t do anything)

ParticipantGeoff,
I have gone ahead and upgraded our theme to a more less buggy theme. The Events Calendar seems to work without trouble now.

MemberNice, that’s so great to hear! I’m sorry I wasn’t able to pinpoint the issue in the previous theme but I am so happy that another theme is doing the trick. 🙂
I’ll go ahead and close this thread but please do stay in touch and let us know if anything else pops up–we’d be happy to help.
Cheers,
