    Hi there!

    I have currently installed and am testing the Events Calendar basic functionality – which, if I understand correctly, receives updates (security and otherwise) like any other free plugin.

    I’m contemplating upgrading to the Pro version on account of some of the extra features, however, I’m unclear on the updates after the one year license expires. Will the client whose site this is receive notifications that the plugin has an update, even if the license expires, and will consequently need to both renew the license and update the plugin? If the client decides not to do any updates for over a year, can he/she renew the expired license at any time? If the license is updated regularly, are plugin updates automatically shown for the PRO version?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for emailing support. Yes, the client will get update notifications in their admin area just like any plugin. If the license is expired it will let them know this as well. If they do not renew, the plugin will still function but no updates will be available. They can either renew an expired license or purchase a new one and set up a new account.

    Okay thanks, this is great!

    So as a final related question – does the pro version need to be installed in tandem with the basic one, or do they function independently?
    I ask because I have seen in your showcase that both the basic and pro plugins are often identified as elements of a particular solution and I wondered if both plugins need to be activated to work.

    Yes, both free and Pro need to be installed.
