ParticipantHello,
I’ve been using the Invent Theme for a couple of months, and we’ve just now had a chance to use the free version of Events Calendar, which was bundled with the theme. The calendar looked great, since we work a lot with iCal, I proceeded to buy your “iCal-importer” add-on, installed it and it worked well. At this point, I was interested in creating a sidebar widget of the events, in calendar form. The free version only allows for “list view”, so we decided to purchase the Pro version, installed it, went to the widgets menu in WP, and successfully added a sidebar widget to one of our LearnDash course pages. The problems began when we went back and forth between creating new events, and testing the sidebar – we ended up with a white screen. And, once that happened, we were never able to get back to the Calendar. Since the white screen effectively crashed the entire WP plugins window, we proceeded to;
1. deactivate the 2 new add-ons, leaving only the original Events Calendar plugin activated = still gave us a white screen
2. removed all 3 of the Events Calendar plugins, and re-installed via FTP, and then again via the WP “add plugin” option (.zip)
3. we contacted our host provider, Bluehost, to check the server environment, and they confirmed that everything was OK from their end.
4. and we just submitted a support request through the Livemesh forum (creators of the Invent Theme) – hoping to hear back from them asap.
5. we’ve also gone over your troubleshooting checklist – see additional text entry for details. The complete URL for the site is; gotoclass.briankingmusic.info/onlineThe current state of the site includes only the free version of the Events Calendar plugin.
Thanks for your help!

ParticipantHey Brian,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
I guess the first question would be whether or not you were able to get back into your site and get it live again? I tried the link you’ve provided and it is currently going to a Bluehost landing page.
This definitely sounds like an annoying problem to be having. As an initial step, did you try running all of The Events Calendar plugins with a default WordPress theme such as the Twenty Fourteen theme? Usually when themes bundle our core plugin it means that they have custom code for displaying the events calendar to better fit the theme. Sometimes that code can become deprecated and if they happen to use a function that no longer exists, you’ll start to get the white screen like you describe.
Let me know if switching helps in this case. If so, we at least have an idea of where to start looking for a culprit.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Brian,
Thanks for following up.
A next step would be to turn debugging on https://codex.wordpress.org/WP_DEBUG (please set both “WP_DEBUG” and “WP_DEBUG_LOG” to true). You can then try to reactive the PRO version of the plugin.
This should record whatever conflict is occurring into a log file within your “wp-content” folder when the plugin is activated and will give us more information about what may be happening on the site.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Brian,
Awesome! I’m glad you were able to get things back up and running again. Be sure to remove the WP_DEBUG settings now from your live site.
This is definitely a strange addition and something that seems to be displaying outside of template. A couple of places to look:
- Check to see if there is a “tribe-events” folder within your theme and whether there is a “single-event.php” file within that folder. You can then check to see if there is any extra entry title there.
- Do a search of your files (possibly functions.php, index.php, page.php, etc.) for any conditional logic that includes the addition of “no-entry-title” class to an entry-title.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!
