    Hi,

I am really confused about what plugin would be best to choose for my purposes. My website, http://gardenlist.northcolumbia.org , needs to accept user input and make a calendar that just marks down garden tips that are only a couple sentences long into a calendar by date. Ex: when a person should plant tomatoes. Very simple: just a title, date, and description input with a username. It also needs to accept user input for events that are happening.

I also run gravity forms on this website. I need whatever plugin I choose to be able to post in a simple, toned-down way for the garden tips, and in a more events oriented way for the events, but not as full blown as your demo. Is the form customizable or able to be integrated with gravity forms in a new version possibly? Which one should I get?

Hi there, Tennille! Thanks for getting in touch. 🙂

Great question. Using the free The Events Calendar plugin will give you the calendar functionality you are looking for, as far as being able to create display events. We also have the Community Events add-on, which allows your visitors to submit events to the calendar. That might be the combination you’re looking for.

Community Events adds a page to your site that includes a form for submitting events. It does include a lot more fields and options than I think you are looking for (i.e. organizers, venues, etc.). It sounds like it would be ideal for what you’re after, but might also take some time to customize it to fit your needs, including some development. That’s likely where you’ll need to decide if it’s best or too much for you.

Here’s a full overview of Community Events that shows you everything from installation to submitting events.

Gravity Forms is certainly an option. However, the information submitted through it would still need to be manually published as an event. Probably not ideal if you’re looking for a plug and play option.

Thanks for asking! Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂

    Cheers!

Thanks for following up and confirming the answer, Tennille! I’m glad this helped.

I’m going to go ahead and close this thread, but please feel free to hit us up with a new thread if any other questions pop up. We’d be happy to help. 🙂

Thanks again for checking out the plugins.
