I am using the twentyfourteen theme for my events calendar. When I set up my child theme, the events calendar becomes off-set and the left side-bar obstructs the view of all the events pro pages. I am not sure why the child theme is creating this problem. I have done no customization in the child as of yet to cause this to happen. Is there a way I can correct this problem?

Thanks for contacting us!
Could I get a link or some screenshots to better understand the problem?
Here are some excellent tools for uploading some screenshots!
Are you having this problem with just the Twentyfourteen parent theme?
Does this make sense? Thanks!
Cheers!

I tried using the a twentytwelve child theme as well as the twentytwelve parent theme and everything displayed correctly. The events calendar shows up correctly in the parent theme of twentyfourteen–just not the child theme I created for twentyfourteen.

I am able to reproduce this and I talked with the dev team. Turns out this a known issue with the way Twentyfourteen creates their sidebar, and after investigating it there isn’t much we are able to do.
The best advice we can give is to set the template to ‘Default page template’ in the Events Settings > Display tab. I confirmed that this will fix the overlap issue, although you may need to do a bit more work to style it better.

If I use “Default page template” in settings area, the calendar looks squished as the content area is too narrow to display the ECP calendar content. Something else seems to be going on here.
