In November 23rd I used the trusted P3 – Plugin Performance Profiler and it said ECPRO had an effect on load time of 0.2283 seconds (and Events Calendar 0.1836 on top)

I just re-ran it having got all latest updates and it now says ECPRO is taking 0.7616 seconds.. it is now clearly the longest contributer of 23 plugins by a big margin.. before it was just another plugin… Events Calendar is 0.2805 so this is also up 35%

I am pretty disturbed by this.. speed is essential and it looks like both have become bloated

just confirm.. do I need EC if I have ECPro?

What else can I do to bring the WAY down on load speed?

    Hey Joy,

I’m sorry to hear about these issues. For starters, yes, you do need to keep The Events Calendar active to have Events Calendar Pro active.

As for the performance concerns, can you clarify how many events you have on your site, to the best of your ability? Do you have thousands per month, for example? Hundreds per month?

One quick thing that might help is to go to Events → Settings → Display in your wp-admin and check the “Enable month view cache” option:

This should speed up the month view page, at least—though I’m sorry to admit that there aren’t many other things you can do from a simple in-plugin options panel or something to make significant impacts on performance.
