Events Calendar – Install Failed

Upgrade of core Events Calendar was initiated because the add on PRO had mysteriously disappeared. Nothing has been changed for a while Since our PRO license is due for renewal in a couple weeks. Rather than figure out where it went we decided to try to re-download with latest renewal key.
Before even getting to that point, we tried to install the latest upgrade to the core Events program and received the following message:
An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.

Events Calendar – Update not working
When i tried to do an update for the Events Calendar as of 7/14/17, it wouldn’t work, giving me the error message “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.” When I tried again and again over a period of time, this update wouldn’t work.

I tried to re-install the Events Calendar plug-in, but I get the message “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.”

Any help?

Renamed/removed the Events Calendar and Pro files in wp-content folder and installs worked.
