ParticipantHi guys
So if you go to my event calandar at http://comhlamh.org/events/
Then hover over volunteering options in my top nav bar
you can see that the drop down is obscured by the events calendar.
Any idea why?
I was noticing another major glitch last week, saved screen shots to my work pc and will share tomorrow.
Thanks! The events calendar is going down really well.

ParticipantHave you tried changing the z-index for either your drop down menu (increase it) or the events calendar (decrease it)?

ParticipantNo, sorry Im not sure what that means.
Also, check out
http://www.anony.ws/k0Rk – weird grey box formed around image on event calendar, goes the whole way down the site
Also, this is the thin I was saying from the first post: m http://www.anony.ws/image/k0Ro
One other issue Ive noticed, as have others, is that only 1/4 of the image is pulled in from facebook as well.

ParticipantHi, comhlamh. Great question!
This looks like a classic case of your theme or one of your plugins conflicting with ours. sguilliard has a very good point about the priority of different elements. It may be a good idea to get in touch with your theme’s developer and ask him about it.
Let us know how it goes! 🙂

ParticipantI dont understand Sguillards point.
Have you any advice on a quick fix?
What about the issue of the grey box?
December 3, 2013 at 6:29 am #79901comhlamh
ParticipantAlso, what about how the facebook import is only taking a quarter of the photos?
That grey box is only happening some events, not all.

ParticipantHere you can see it again
Check the calendar linked before to see it yourself.

ParticipantHi, comhlamh. I can understand your eagerness. 🙂 Unfortunately, since this is not an issue with our plugin, it’s really something you’ll need to bring to your theme developer for support. You could also engage the support of a third-party developer to check it out, and if you’d like suggestions, we’d be happy to share a list of reliable folks with you.
Once we get this conflict sorted out, we can see what else is going on.
Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantThere are three things going on here.
a) that grey box
b) that issue with the drop down menu
c) the fact that the events facebook plugin import only takes in 1/4 of an event image.Whatever about the first two, I have seen other people raise the issue of the plug in only pulling in a quarter of the image before.
is that not something to do with the plug in rather than my theme?
Thanks

ParticipantHi, comhlamh. Since there is a conflict with your theme, let’s address that first. Once we have that sorted out, we can better address other issues.
Have you heard back from your theme developer?
December 4, 2013 at 3:53 am #80089comhlamh
ParticipantYes he came back saying the weird gray box is a plug in specific issue.
The other problem he gave me a fix but I cant make head nor tail of the code as its not spaced out etc.
Also it sez that tribe-events-full.min.css is inactive if you look closely there

ParticipantHi, comhlamh. Sounds like you’re making good progress with your theme dev. Is there a reason you are asking us for clarification about his advice?
Also, Please make sure that if you’re overriding our plugin files that you do so in a way that will be preserved after update. (This goes for theme modifications, too!) For more information about how to go about that, please check out our Themer’s Guide under useful resources in the right sidebar.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantI’m getting a little frustrated now to be honest. My questions are being met with questions and when information is given, it is not being used.
These are the issues just so we are clear:
a) A grey box appears around some of the images that are imported from the Facebook events calendar (see: http://www.anony.ws/k0Rk for a screenshot of this.) Go to http://comhlamh.org/events/ and you can see it for yourself.
b) I have contacted my theme developer, and they say that this grey box is a problem specfic to the plug in (see: http://www.anony.ws/kJ3L for what he says) – could you please address this?
C) The issue with the drop down menu appearing under the events calendar (see: http://www.anony.ws/image/k0Ro ) is solvable through editing the z index which is located in tribe-events-full.min.css . However, when I go to adjust this in that location (as advised in another part of this thread the code is pretty indecipherable to me (see: http://www.anony.ws/kJ3S ) so I would appreciate being pointed to where I can change it. The code is over at http://pastebin.com/9yif47JT
D) Another issue (and one raised by other users…) is that only 1/4 of an event image is imported by the plug in (go look at http://comhlamh.org/event/solidarity-xmas-party/ and then compare it to the image at https://www.facebook.com/events/618569148179383/
I believe this is because the plug in is sourcing the iamges from the UpComing events section of Facebook (eg https://www.facebook.com/Comhlamh/events )
I reckon I’m being very clear and lucid here.
I’d appreciate if you could address my points rather than completely avoiding the specifics of my issues and telling me to go talk to my theme developer. I have done that, and they referred me back to you as these problems are specific to the plug in.
I’ve enjoyed using the Modern Tribe tool set, but this thread is a rather despairing case of support not listening.

ParticipantHi, comhlamh. I hear your frustration. I’m sorry that I’m not being clear. Let me try again.
1. I am focusing on the first issue that you brought to our attention. Our policy is to address one issue at a time. First, we will get to the bottom of that. Then, we can investigate other issues.
2. This is clearly a conflict between your theme and our plugin. Our plugin is using WordPress best practices in this area. We can’t guarantee that our plugin will work with every theme and plugin out there, but by sticking to the best practices, we can get pretty close.
Based on the behavior that we’re seeing with the menu bar, I’m guessing that your theme developer has set his z-index to the point where it is lower than ours. Because this is specific to your theme, I would rather that someone who knows the ins and outs of your theme give you advice on the best way to resolve this. That’s why I am asking you to consult with him.
I do want to be clear that if he tells you to modify something in our plugin, you should ask him to help you make sure that what you’re doing won’t be wiped out when you upgrade to a later version of the plugin. This is usually done through a template override, which is outlined in our Themer’s Guide, linked in the sidebar.
If your theme dev has any specific questions for us, please pass them along. We’ll be happy to answer them. 🙂 I hope this helps explain what’s going on.

ParticipantHi – I have modified my theme so that the drop down no longer appears underneath the modern tribe plug in.
Can we please move on to addressing the other issues now?
Thanks.
