ParticipantHello,
I am using Events Calendar and Pro. My site has been running super slow. I ran a diagostic and these plugins are 82% of my load time. WHat can I do to lessen it?
Thank you!!

MemberHi, thanks for getting in touch – I’m sorry to hear you are hitting difficulties here.
It looks like you have around 200 upcoming events, a very high ratio of which seem to be recurring events. Though the total number of events is not massively high they are all packed into a fairly tight timeframe. That means a lot of events need to be retrieved to build up the content for a single page view, especially for month view and list view, where you are displaying 100 events per page.
There are a number of strategies you can employ to reduce the work needed to retrieve those events – or at least reduce the number of times that work (which is what takes so long) needs to be done, and all relate to caching. Caching the final HTML output, caching queries and caching objects are all ways to improve speed here – which you can implement really depends on your hosting environment.
Can you provide any details about the sort of hosting package you are using? In some cases the hosting provider may “throttle” resources which could also be a factor.
Thanks!

ParticipantThank you for the prompt reply!!
I am using: W3 Total Cache plugin
I am using bluehost
As far as recurring events- I still have a lot to have. However, as soon as I figure out how, I am planning to move those to a separate page/calendar and off of my main/home page. Will that help with the load time?

MemberOK: I’m not sure that will help (though it really depends on what you are planning here).
If you have already enabled appropriate caching as best you can in that environment and are still facing problems then I think it may simply be the case that there isn’t enough “grunt” power available in that hosting configuration to accommodate your needs and the needs of the application itself.

MemberI’m going to mark this resolved as I don’t think there’s too much more we can offer on this occasion (of course if you disagree or need assistance with anything else please do in a new thread). Thanks!
