ParticipantI’ve been using the plugin successfully for a number of months now. Previously I would have created a blog post for an event, but now I exclusively use the calendar. I’ve run into a problem though. When I posted events as a blog post they would appear on google, and attract traffic. Now, using the events plugin exclusively, my events do not appear in the rankings at all. I’ve checked my sitemap, and used the google data highlighter, but it’s as if search engines are seeing these posts at all. People just aren’t able to find my events, in fact i’m having trouble finding them! If this continues I’ll have to discontinue using the plugin. Do you have any suggestions?
Second, can we embed individual events into blog posts?
Thanks

MemberHi Brian,
Thanks for reaching out to us, and sorry to hear about this issue!
Regarding SEO, can you link me to your site so I can take a look? To prevent content duplication many views of the calendar are not indexed, but that doesn’t mean events should not be indexed at all. Are you using any SEO plugins or any other plugins that you think that might be affecting this?
On the second question, the plugins comes packed with some useful shortcodes but none is for individual events š There’s a third-party plugin: The Events Calendar Shortcode that provides additional shortcodes but I’m not sure if it provides one for individual events.
Please let me know about those,
Best,

ParticipantHi Nico,
Appreciate your help with this. I suppose the issue is that although events are getting indexed, the process is very slow. The events also seem to be very low down, and not ranked highly organically. Is there a way to have Google boost the, or even crawl the schedule more often?
I appreciate that this may be beyond the remit of your support page, but I was just hoping that there was some way to organically improve the rankings of our events page. Is it possible to edit the meta data on the /events page for example?
Thanks
Ciaran

MemberHey Cirian,
Thanks for following-up! From a code perspective I don’t see anything wrong from the calendar view, there are no meta tags with noindex or nofollow values. Maybe there are some settings in Yoast SEO you can adjust for better indexing events pages? Some per post_type settings?
We have a knowledge base article on a title conflict with Yoast, although they don’t seem super relevant for your case you might want to take a look: How to remove āEvent Archivesā from the title in Yoast SEO.
Please let me know if you find further info on Yoast seetings,
Best,
